I got my copy of the graphic novel today. I've made it a dozen or so pages in. Limited color palette, but it works. Looking forward to finishing it after finals.
for those who know/enjoy the collaboration Jeff did with Gary Lucas, I guess many tunes were never recorded and released that they wrote together. Gary Lucas has decided to finally record and release them. The 1st song was just released yesterday, with Dave Combusti whose known as "The Niro" "No One Must Find You Here"
What's up with the impromptu swim though? He randomly jumps in a river fully clothed because of? I haven't really read into it but it sounds far fetched considering he had no drugs in his system. Was he always that spontaneous?
i can’t speak to jeff but i’ve definitely river swam in clothes. apparently the currents of the mississippi in memphis are notoriously bad though.
Happy 25th Anniversary, Grace. My anniversary LP is still on its way, but I happily bought the four "new" live albums and "Sky Blue Skin" demo this afternoon to tide me over.
Although it wasn't recorded, Jeff did perform this with Gods & Monsters numerous times in '92. I have a soundboard recording of this track from a show at St. Anne's Church, the same venue that hosted his father's '92 tribute where he made his live debut. Where can I read more about this project of Gary's to reimagine their songs?
Nevermind! The Complete Jeff Buckley and Gary Lucas Songbook will be released October 4th on Esordisco.
HYLI Vol. LIX - The Contortionist and Jeff Buckley andy listened to grace for the first time this week on @Jacob Tender's recommendation and i wrote a bit about having a baby
A smashing success, I think. Gonna give it a week and then send him the road version of “Eternal Life.”
Man I forgot about Live at Sin-e. So many good takes on that. I had a DVD that me and a friend used to watch over and over. Probably missed seeing him live by 5 or 6 years.
Hard to say. I haven’t seen much news about it. After it was announced that Orian Williams was directing and that shooting would happen in fall 2021, I only saw him post a few times about the production. - Location scouting around LA in November/December 2021. - Some acknowledgement of the film still being possible in the comments of this post, May 2022 Reeve posted once about the casting, but never again. He’s been relentlessly busy on stage in NYC. I see no indication filming has occurred for the biopic. A bio used around a few sites this February cite it as a future project. https://www.digitaljournal.com/ente...estown-talks-about-his-upcoming-shows/article
Thanks for the info! I saw a post from Reeve ages ago where he received a replica of Jeff’s telecaster from the Fender custom shop which looked cool. I’m in two minds about a biopic though, it seems like something that Jeff would have hated.
Probably. The only reason I'm harboring any anticipation for this at all is that his mother is so involved. There will only ever be one "true" biopic. This is it and I think (more and more with time) Reeve is the right person to play him. Mary Guibert has done a really nice job preserving her son's legacy and made very conscious decisions about what "new material" is put out into the world. Whether it's a beautiful graphic novel, a published portion of his notebooks, or a film about his life, anything she approves to bridge the gap with new listeners is worthwhile. That's my take, anyway.
Looks like the film is still happening Full podcast: Movie Producer Orian Williams on Joshua Shultz Podcast Episode 5 - YouTube
yeah, greetings from tim buckley haha. they've been talking about this one for like 10+ years now, with reeve carney playing jeff
As much as I like Orian’s dedication to Mary’s vision for the film, it doesn’t seem like this trepidatious approach will get the movie made. Barely a biopic, but it was fine… The kind of movie for fans of Across the Universe. I wonder if Reeve is still attached. He’s been keeping pretty busy.
