    Haven’t kept up with jazz releases as much as usual this year, but that Tyshawn Sorey album is probably my favorite of what I have heard. Stunning stuff.

    Excited to get some time with the Akinmusire/Halvorson album tomorrow.

  7. If you haven't give the Max Roach record it's a reinterpretation of a listen or two, it adds to the experience of the Sorey record for sure:



    Agreed though, it's incredible, which I was really pleased by because a lot of his lower-energy work doesn't hit me for me as much as I'd like. Was great to hear an energetic cut from him.

    Also the trumpeter on there is Adam O'Farrill who has an album this year that I've yet to get to. I saw him with Hiromi and he's on my favorite 2 Mary Halvorson records and is on records I really like by Patricia Brennan and Anna Webber too. Gotta get to that one
