dope Soviet jazz-rock album Created with Their Own Hands by Arsenal on Apple Music (not sure why it’s not embedding)
new pat is great and new Tomeka Reid w Mary Halvorson - Mary is so good on it Excited to get Muriel playing Dead, (from late Dec apparently) Messthetics & JBL follow-up, Deface The Currency by The Messthetics & James Brandon Lewis on Apple Music Frisell, In My Dreams by Bill Frisell on Apple Music Dave Holland, Vital Spark (Music of Kenny Wheeler) [feat. Mark Lockheart & Nikki Iles] by Dave Holland, Norma Winstone, Kenny Wheeler & London Vocal Project on Apple Music and Booker Stardrum of SML (and others) who I think is just unbelievable in that band. He leads their explorations like a master Close - Up on the Outside by Booker Stardrum on Apple Music
This is fantastic Even breaks out the sax on a couple of tracks after retiring it as his primary instrument
Gotta check out the Flea album since it's got Josh Johnson and Anna Butterss and Jeff Parker and Chad Smith on it. Also out since my last big post: From the guitar player from SML but without much (any?) guitar on it, which I think I like more than the Booker Stardrum record: Immanuel Wilkins live record: New Irreversibile Entanglements: Miroslav & DeJohnette (RIP) plus some Esperanza: Mountain Call by Miroslav Vitous, Michel Portal & Jack DeJohnette on Apple Music and Ulysses with a different band from the 2024 release: Around The World With U by Ulysses Owens Jr. on Apple Music
Ambrose Akinmusire and Mary Halvorson announce debut duo album, Slo-Mo Neon Luminate Hoverings - Jazzwise
These guys have got two new ones out this year, totally missed them! Really really great groovy fusion but very horn- and piano-forward fusion so it still has a sort of straight-ahead vibe. I initially got hooked because this song: has the exact same groove as this one: Lost Sailor - Live at Nassau Coliseum, May 15-16, 1980
Looking for recommendations. I've been on a quite interesting Jazz run recently but honestly I don't know too many bands/artists. I like Badbadnotgood, Mammal Hands, Gogo Penguin, Portico Quartet, Yussef Dayes and Yussef Kamaal. What else should I really be listening to (based on the stuff I like)?
