Started taking jazz guitar classes on a whim this year to force myself to practice more. Realized A) I didn’t know shit about jazz and B) I suck at guitar lol


Been a grind but really enjoying it so far - learning and listening a ton

 

Just grabbed CDs of Miles' Quiet Nights, Workin' and Steamin' plus Monk's Brilliant Corners for$4 each. Gonna have some killer jazz in my life imminently

 

Listening to Miles’ Dark Magus for the first time. Fucking great album.

 

Black Beauty-Dark Magus-Agharta are 3 of the greatest live releases of all time and that's the most conservative judgement I can honestly make about them

Been enjoying this one this weekend (and last year during Christmas)

 

Absolutely loving both Misha Panfilov albums from this year

Got a little addicted to vinyl for a minute and ended up discovering some stuff I'm really enjoying:

 

That Metheny record is one of my favorites of all time, I think

 

There are some melodic passages in there that are unlike anything I've ever heard.

 

Playing this today

 

Track 2 rocked but I do not get down with these vocals at all.

 

The only John Surman I’ve heard so far is Withholding Pattern, which I liked. Also have Private City on my list

 

Yeah I didn't dig that very much outside of the one song. I've switched over to The Melody At Night With You, a perfect winter record.

 

Winter is def ECM hours

 

Have particularly enjoyed these this holiday season
