Doing more research, appears highly likely it’s an AI-generated artist; around twenty “albums” uploaded to Spotify since last year. No artist information behind “Lo-Fi Signal FM” whatsoever. Dang
Ezra Collective’s set at Glastonbury was so so good. Fun, joyous and full of positivity. Had me in tears numerous times but still grinning throughout. Check it out if you have the chance.
Have lived 3 and 1/2 years in Oslo and haven't checked out the jazz scene here yet - now just bought a ticket to see a show next Saturday night, at the reported best jazz club in the city. The band playing seems to have that classic lively jazz sound. Excited.
Seeing tonight, very excited. Weird though is that doors are at 5pm, with the start time at 6pm, which seems very early for a show, haha. Not against it though, as it will be quite nice to get home at a reasonable time from a show finally. Also, really enjoyed this
Maybe it is, not sure; we just had the month-long Oslo Jazz Festival start this week, with that Joshua Redman show on Monday, which was sold out. Was a bizarre show though, as Joshua was almost second-fiddle to the backing band he had, which were a bunch of jazz musicians from northern Norway, and the guy from the band speaking between songs spoke only Norwegian to the crowd, so I'm sure Joshua had no idea what he was saying the whole night, haha. Didn't even let Joshua speak the whole show either. And the jazz itself was kinda shit; no melody or groove to any of the songs they played. It was mostly just all the musicians playing over each other, zero coordination between any of them. Stood there for an hour and a half confused on what I was hearing.
Doing some research it seems Copenhagen has the strongest jazz reputation, but Stockholm and Oslo have pretty decent scenes too
Sweden has a very healthy jazz scene. Not sure which cities in particular, but there have been a few acts from there that i've really enjoyed over the years.
This is great. I'm a sucker for all of Madlib's jazz alter egos. Young Jazz Rebels is probably my favourite. And of course Jahari Massamba Unit.
love the way the sitar and the water and wood drums float around the guitar playing on this excellent record some other finds. this one is for the Mulatu Astatke and Hailu Mergia fans and this one just dropped in March, supergroup with members of Meridian Brothers. phenomenal shit
Four... yes FOUR new EPs from Makaya McCraven out at the end of October... Hidden Out!, by Makaya McCraven Seems like it essentially an album split into 4 EPs as they're being bundled together on vinyl etc and that's how i'll be listening to it as I can never get enough Makaya
