Okay, listened to Emma-Jean this afternoon, loved it. A few of those tunes sound like straight up R&B tunes

 

Yeah, it's a bloody great, isn't it? She makes the darkest time in her life sound so joyous, it's damn impressive.

Loved the James Brandon Lewis too, just relistened to it yesterday, better than I remembered. Still have to get to Armon-Jones, and these 4 I didn't have on my list yet. Good looks

Man, I haven't put on The Tony Bennett/Bill Evans Album in quite awhile and just an absolutely immaculate vibe.

 

Not typical jazz but I’ve been enjoying the recent Kneebody album - they’re on Snarky Puppy’s label

made it a point of emphasis to get more into modern jazz. been listening to a few albums released this year thus far and I'm glad I did. I say all that to say I'm listening to Bone Bells atm and it's gorgeous.

 

The Hiromi / Sonicwonder album from this year rocks, also been digging the Marshall Allen.

some older things I've recently enjoyed

 

Apple Cores is also a great album from this year. finishing it up now, then it's on to Splash

 

Myra Melford Splash is my fav of the three, all great albums tho

 

oh guess I forgot to mention that I also listened to Apple Cores by James Brandon Lewis.
