listened to this first one over the last week, going to try to go through them all. there’s 7 volumes so far and they all cover 1-3 years each so they’re only up to 37(!!) with like 18 hours of music
New Kamasi today. Just over half way through and he's done it again. Although at only an hour and twenty six minutes, it's surprisingly short for him!
I think it's my favorite of his so far, helps that its possible to listen to all of it in one sitting
Seeing (hopefully? at least hearing!) Sun Ra Arkestra for free in Central Park tomorrow with Kim Gordon
Not sure why I’m not part of this thread. Big on ECM, ambient jazz, fusion, fourth-world, new-agey and mellow shit. And always open to new things. Gonna take some time exploring the thread but if anyone has any big recs, please shoot them my way!
they are the only spot i know of consistently posting cool new age shit, i’ll post here when i spot some on there
You a fan of Andre 3000's album? If so, definitely check out Carlos Nino and his various collaborations. Definitely on the more ambient side of jazz. a lot more experimental than the Andre 3000 album, a lot more percussion and fusion with other genre's like hip hop.
I do actually know Carlos Nino from Aquarium Drunkard hah. I've really liked "(I'm just) Chillin', on Fire" and also "Placenta" so far
This came out this year too and is really good. Typical Carlos Nino affair, just with the occasional skronk from Idris Ackamoor
Pretty sure this is how I found out about him, this is a (hopefully authorized? lol) reprint of a paywalled AD article: Jazz Ragas For Restless Times : Aquarium Drunkard - NEWHD Media
