Going through old Pazz & Jop lists out of curiosity and shiiiiiiiiit did critics love Ornette in the 80s.
I missed that this said Asian as well, I can dig deeper but I love groups like Casiopea, Hiromi and Hiromi's Sonicbloom, Soil & Pimp Sessions espeically
Fingers crossed we can listen to all of this one and not have to skip the tracks that feature a woman abuser on this time round
So, I’ve always been a massive Madlib fan and listened to Yesterday’s New Quintet loads, but never listened to any of his other jazz albums. Until today. Man, I’m kicking myself so much for not listening to them sooner. They’re pretty much exactly what I need.
I didn't even know he had straight up jazz albums...definitely will have to check. I loved when he brought one of my fav jam pianists Benevento on for his tiny desk with Gibbs
He has about 7 or 8 jazz albums I think. Listed under Yesterday’s New Quintet and some in the EP section on here... Madlib discography - Wikipedia
It seems a lot of people know about him already and I'm late to the party but I stumbled on this album and holy fuck it's just immense
Makaya is probably one of my favourite discoveries from the past couple of years. Everything he’s touched has been gold.
Gotta check that out today listening to Gogo Penguin right now and it’s really pretty, liking it a lot
