I'm a big tent jazz fan so thanks for the rec and pls feel free to post nay borderline stuff like that in here
I made a thread for her last album but it went mostly ignored unfortunately. But yeah it’s a great album. Kadhja Bonet - Childqueen (June 8, 2018) • forum.chorus.fm
Finally getting round to listening to Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah's Centennial Trilogy. Some fucking great stuff on these albums.
So, I always tend to focus on the drumming when I listen to jazz. I used to drum and because I was so shit, I can't fathom how people play with such complexity haha. Anyone have any recs for any drum focused jazz? Was a big fan of the Jamire Williams record a couple of years back, so anything similar to that would be good too.
Donno how similar it is to that but Nate Smith - Pocket Change is a great solo drum record and anything he was sideman on for Chris Potter is great
Looks like The Comet is Coming are playing near me in November. I never really go to jazz shows but think I might get tickets for this.
Also, I assume it has been mentioned here, but the this years Branford Marsalis Quartet album is amazing.
First spin with this and it's legitimately amazing. To still have that kind of fire 30 years into recording is incredible.
Anyone see the NYT story about the Universal vault fire? I've been sick to my stomach ever since I read it.
Even if they lost JUST the Impulse or Chess masters, it would be catastrophic. To lose that entire archive is unfathomable.
