Was listening to Alice Coltrane earlier. Thought it was for the first time. Until I looked at last.fm and noticed I listened to her about 10 years ago. I had no idea
Went and saw Makaya McCraven last night and him and his band put on a killer show. Theon Cross was a part of his band too which was a really nice surprise.
Currently obsessed with The Comet is Coming. That new album is grade a crack and I want it in my veins now please.
who knew there is a Joni Mitchell live album (opening for Mingus) with Pat Metheney, Jaco, and the rest of Pat's band which includes a Bitches' Brew alumnus. Sounds wild haven't heard it yet tho Shadows and Light (Joni Mitchell album) - Wikipedia
My current obsession has been all things Nubya Garcia. Her album 5ive from a couple years back might be my favorite from that entire scene. Also love her work on the Maisha and Nerija albums. She’s all over the place.
Yeah the past 2 Binker & Moses albums are both awesome. Binker Golding put out a solo album earlier this year, but it wasn’t really my cup of tea.
I have to give it more listens. Its pretty avante garde inspired which I dig but sometimes needs closer listening. Iirc it does get a lot more melodic on the backend...might spin that again today
looks like there's another album he plays rhodes on.... (I think this is the same band? also has Guiliana at least)
There is a new Brazillian Netflix show about a woman who opens a Bossa Nova club in 1950s Rio. It’s called Coisa Mais Linda. Good music in that show.
Didn’t know whether to put in here or RnB, but listened to Kadhja Bonet the other day and really dug it. Probably suited to here more than the RnB thread as there’s a lot of really chilled jazzy moments.
