how does he come up with these chords on the spot. 1:50-2:30...god fucking damn. I wish he would make interesting music that wasnt just him looping or harmonizing with himself. dude is a harmonic genius, literally.
I watch that Collier theory interview like once a month just to remind myself that I don't know shit about shit
it fucking shreds dude. i love it. unfortunately her only stuff on spotify is with her trio which is much closer to like a post bop style. it's still amazing but that fusion sound with sonicbloom is my favorite
I feel like I would appreciate it less listening to rather than watching it. Her physical energy is a big part of what's making these videos slay.
If you guys want to check out a crazy piano player, check out Lubomyr Melnyk - not really jazz, more classical, but still amazing to watch - think he has the world record for most notes played in a certain time period, or something
Friend/bassist in my jazz band put on a very sick show this week with a very sick project, just posted this video from it, I don't know how to describe it but she's one of the most immensely talented people I've ever met and it was a fuckin trip this one features a spoken word from one of the dudes in my jazz band as well, he killed it
That art really grabbed me. Is it out there/free jazz kinda stuff? Also do you know anything about Ornette's Love Call? It's sitting in the used CD section of my local store and the cover has really been popping up in my head for days, but allmusic's review is pretty meh.
In a lot of ways the Ulmer album is pretty out there. but it also rocks and grooves. definitely listen. guitar-violin-drum trio. really unique, genuine masterpiece. can't say i've heard Love Call. Coleman I'd probably buy it for used CD prices based on nothing though tbh. Ulmber was the first electric guitar player in his live band actually
Will add to the list. Always willing to give something a shot, even if it doesn't end up my thing. And honestly I might just get Love Call. If only to be able to take it off the shelf and look at that awesome 60s cover.
Yeah that sounds sick, was playing Truth yesterday, such a good piece. Anyway, can’t believe they made the playoffs after being so far down. What a run, would love to see them make it out of the first round too.
Anyone been listening to Mary Halvorson's Code Girl? I put it on the other day and enjoyed it a decent amount. I don't know shit about Jazz so is that the kind of thing folks listen to?
2 Great 2018 albums This second one will even teach you about a bunch of different African revolutionaries no one knows enough about
Ooh good reminder. Not yet, no. I'll try this week. Got a good deal on a George Benson album today so I'm feeling a little jazzy.
