Jay-Z and the Politics of Rapping in Middle Age This is maybe the best piece I've seen on 4:44. To be fair most of them have been pretty bad, but this one is good. One cool thing about it is how it goes into how "old school rappers" can and maybe should add value to the rap landscape.
I completely understand the conceptual purpose of "Kill JAY-Z" and it's placement, but it's my least favorite song on here. Lyrics are great but I don't really like the beat. It's the only song that has faded instead of grown on me.
Love how he adds that PC rhyme on the little talking interlude of "Family Feud". Just shows how playful he can be.
So Jay just put on one of the best rap shows I've ever seen. Holy shit, I'm so glad I finally got fully into him this year
Got the 4:44 vinyl is a surprise Christmas gift from my cousin! It's two LPs which I thought was heavy overkill untill I realized Side D is the bonus tracks! They're really fun. Also, now I can easily play Side C over and over which is "Bam Bam" through "Legacy".
