Tbh I only got i to him recently, so my knowledge of his work is basically Weathervanes and Southeastern. So, I’m looking forward to this as something a bit different from either of those.
Song is good. Doesn’t initially totally grab me, but I suspect with repeated listens or coming up in streaming queues fondness will grow. Maybe this will be his Nebraska. I mean if Isbell is gonna go stripped down acoustic, let’s go all the way down depths of despair solo acoustic.
im thinkinnnnnnn about pulling the trigger to see him friday or saturday night next weekend in NYC. i've never seen him just solo by himself before. the prices are making me a litttttle squirmy but, we'll see.
yeah I like that one a lot. i think I'd like it even more with a band but whatever. also kind of glad he's not attaching anyone else to these songs given some of the themes; get it out and move on i guess
Yeah I wasn’t sure what I thought of that song upon first listen last night because I was taken aback by how different it was from Bury Me and the title track. Fully onboard now. Kinda reminds me of Dying Star era Rusty
Yeah I’m thinking something just short of Here, My Dear haha. Very very divorce album. So again: kinda glad he’s just getting that out solo and moving forward
I’m very ready for him to get down the road a few years and for us to hear his Lucky Town (this is a compliment from me; I’m on record a hundred times saying that’s the most underappreciated Bruce record)
Part of me has been wondering how much the pre-release song choices have been him not wanting to consciously market this as a “divorce album”. Even if it might sell more…
