I can't remember who it was on here that saw a post I made about 3/4 years ago, about not liking country music and recommended me Southeastern. So apologies for that.

Not only did I love it, and have gotten into other artists since, but I just got a ticket to see him here in the UK in November.

Stoked to see Garrison Starr opening a show.

 

looking at airfare to make the saturday 12th show work

 

Seeing him tonight for the first time in eight (!) years.

 

Hell yeah! The man doesn’t play bad shows obviously but the already great live show has gotten incredibly good in that time span. Excited for ya

 

I really really hope we get a live album from this current era at some point. The fact that he hasn’t put any full shows up on bandcamp from the last couple years makes me hopeful that maybe there could be something in the works down the line

 

The last time I saw him was on the Something More Than Free tour, so that's a lot of albums worth of material I haven't seen anything from. Was supposed to go to a show in 2020, but that didn't happen, obviously.

 

Show was great, of course. Two gripes, though:

1) He's got such a strong discography at this point that it bums me out he's only doing 90 minutes.
2) Nothing from Reunions at all?!

 

Oof 90 min really? Last time I saw him not at a fest it was 1:45 and even that felt too short

 

Might have been a tad longer; I didn’t check my watch exactly at the start. But it definitely felt abbreviated.

Yep, didn’t get that. I really wanted “Only Children” or “Dreamsicle.”

 

really good show. it was my first time seeing him so pretty much any setlist would have made me happy, but in particular it was great to hear when we were close, elephant, and overseas. i also think weathervanes is easily his best record that isn’t named southeastern, so i didn’t mind the set being heavy on those songs.

the man is good.

should i be gleaning any deeper meanings/inferences or context from this or... is he just seemingly being an asshole?

He and Jason used to be friends, but Jason distanced himself after everything about Ryan came out. This is...maybe the first time Ryan has addressed that publicly?

 

he wrote a song on one of his terrible post-cancellation albums about it in 2021

 

good god that song sounds like it belongs on the new say anything album

 

I'd have a lot more sympathy for Ryan's feelings of betrayal if the allegations against him weren't so, so gross. Or if he'd ever shown any remorse at all. Dude is the definition of "You made your bed, now lie in it."

Boston show was great last night. Got a few I’ve never heard live before (Life You Chose, Something More Than Free, Dreamsicle).

Ryan Adams sucks. I’m sure it feels shitty to not have the support of a friend who you helped through addiction, but that’s called consequences for being a piece of shit for seemingly your entire adult life.
