Damn, I unfortunately feel super underwhelmed by this. Picture Window is the clear standout to me and I wish it was longer because it’s the best hook on the album

i’ve been meaning to tell you

love this so far after a couple listens. standouts are honey water, picture window, and mega circuit. definitely not what i was expecting after jubilee, but it works for me. it was cool to read about her process for this album and how the financial security she got from the book gave her the courage to go in a different musical direction.

This did nothing for me, kind of struggled to get through it. Bummer.

not a fan of this direction, think I’m gonna skip the coachella set. I don’t really see these songs translating to a festival environment.

  12. hmmmmm

  13. Not hitting for me right now but it's a stressful day at work. This feels like a relaxing/vibes album, not the upbeat pop of Jubilee.

  14. I'm digging it a lot, not quite Jubilee level for me but I wouldn't expect it to be after one listen.

It’s good. Whoever said it’s like an acoustic led Soft Sounds is spot on.

The Jeff Bridges feature is bad

  18. It's good, actually

  19. I'm in the minority that doesn't reach for Jubilee as much as the other two because I'm not usually in the mood for the opulent maximalism stuff, and I still don't like "Orlando," so imagine my surprise when I kind of love this lol. The one-two punch of "Honey Water" and "Mega Circuit" is so good. Love how laid back this thing is while feeling like there's always something dark hiding around the corner. I like the amount of acoustic guitar and slide. Great stuff!

  20. Winter in LA is very pretty but I felt like I was waiting for a part that never came? Like some big instrumental break with those string swells or something. Idk. I was surprised when it ended

Wonderful album. I get not everyone can like everything but I am surprised by some of the reactions here lol this is very lush and quite engaging imo. And not that big of a leap from some of her other stuff

I think this is pretty good. I really like the opening run of songs but there are a couple in the middle that bring the momentum way down. Jeff Bridges feature is absurd, I’m sure there’s some thematic reason for it but it didn’t work for me at all on listen 1. Picture Window is fucking excellent, love stealing the One Headlight bass rhythm. Overall I’d give it like a 7/10 and say that the half of the songs on it that I like best are as good as anything else she’s done, but as a whole it falls a little short of the others. (After one listen of course things could grow on me.)
