It's a great album guys, it's well thought out, well planned, but it's not sad enough, so......f*** it
Yeah it usually takes me like a week or so to even get a full grasp of an album never mind being completely done with it. Hell I still find things to get excited about in songs I've been listening to for years. Also it's killing me knowing this album is out there and I don't have time to listen to to and properly take it in.
Maybe that stereogum article is bad but also maybe someone will listen to that Priests record because of it and then the world will become a slightly better place.
I'd say that I was hoping that Arc of Bar would be better when it accounts for 20% of the entire album. The albums definitely top 3 of January though!
Continuous Thunder was my favorite from CR and I think this record really skews in the direction of that track. this is so good. it makes me want to fall in love and I'm supposed to be heartless wtf????? I feel like "Arc of Bar" is the "Sun" of this record. I know that's a stupid thing to say but w/e also "Midnight to Morning" is very Rising Tide-era Sunny Day Real Estate to me--big, arena sized rock devotion. the way he sings "on the IIIIIIIII-5" is so Enigk
Saw them opening for Gaslight a few years ago. One of the best and most energetic live sets I've ever seen. So yeah, they translate well. At least the CR songs do
Drove 2.5 hrs to see them the wk after CR leaked and it still stands out as one of my favorite concert memories.
They were unreal last time they came to Boston. Someone threw an astronaut helmet on stage and Prowse played through a whole song with it on. So much fun.
