Just watched. I’m probably gonna be in the minority on this one but man I did not like it on first watch. Bummed out because this kind of quiet dissection of parent/child relationship movie has really been hitting for me the last few years. And this one just really didn’t at all.
Caught this in theaters over the summer and really loved it, glad more people are seeing it now. Also got to talk to the AD at a wedding a few days after that, which was really cool!
The name and the general vibe of the promotional material made it seem like a kooky Sundance movie and I didn't think about the movie again until it started making all the year-end lists.
The opening scene made me think I was in for a quirky A24 dramedy but thankfully it was much more than that. Really good.
