It weird to say that "Americans" gives me a "Born in the USA" vibe? Like aesthetically, sounding like blind patriotism to state religion all while actually being a critique?
You can really hear the Prince vibe on "Make Me Feel" too, but there's dashes of him on every song. Btw, this is a great guitar record too.
Damn "Crazy Classic Life", love the sound and melody. Great start to the album. And its flow right into "Take a Byte" (also super funky-sounding, love it). wtf. This is really an album. the hell man. I don't listen to as much music nowadays. I miss records like this.
I'm so glad I didn't listen to any advance singles because the ebb and flow of the album is so perfect.
I wound up watching the movie and then later listening to the album in full to get the full experience and yeah this is wonderful, the Cindi Mayweather era was of course amazing but this feels like I don't know she somehow unlocked even more and it's great
fucking great album this one is here folks most immediately connected and positive I've been to any of her work
I still haven't even finished because I fell asleep last night and got interrupted today, but I've made it through the first 10 songs, and you know how sometimes you just listen to an album and immediately know it's something really special? Albums like this don't come around often.
