Been watching old bond movies again since they dropped on amazon. If the franchise goes up in flames im going to be bummed, but ultimately having the trove of radical bond outings that are snapshots in time wont really sour things too much for me. Barbara Broccoli has done press essentially saying her time with Daniel Craig was the swan song and i will be revisiting these movies forever. I do hope the new ones are good, and I am reserving any judgements until I see the first movie. Rings of Power season one was pretty good and season two was rad. I have hope that as long as the right talent and teams come in it will rule. Still mourning the loss of Christopher Nolan ushering in a new bond era, but it’s not like they didn’t get a major victory with the Dune guy. The not having Final Cut thing is in line with every bond movie ever released. This isn’t too concerning to me or doesn’t strike me as an “amazon is ruining everything” moment. lol the Jeff Bezos wanting his girlfriend in the movie was a much more eyebrow raising moment imo.
I kind of went nuts trying to get through every bond release earlier this year, and I rewatched Live and Let Die this past week. I enjoyed it significantly more than round one. It will be fun to just pop one on as I feel like it and tinker with the power ranking. I REALLY love Moore outings.
IOI Delays James Bond Video Game '007: First Light' Release Date "To Further Polish And Refine The Experience"
All the bond movies are on Netflix! Started The Living Daylights last night. Really love the Daulton films. Going to get through the Brosnan films after.
Not seen any of his films before 2010, but everything from Incendies onwards has been great from Villeneuve. It would be a sad day if a new Bond film were the one to break his streak, given my love for the series despite its flaws and for his films.
Got through all the Brosnan films. Oddly enough I really enjoyed Die Another Day. The first half is pretty great. If you can get over the ridiculousness of the second half there’s some really good action scenes. I remember really not enjoying it the first time I went through all the movies, but genuinely enjoyed myself this time and I’d probably be inclined to watch it again before his middle two. I think Brosnan is my least favorite bond. Aside from goldeneye the movies are pretty mid. He just doesn’t have any definitive qualities like the other bonds do. Not bad but just exceedingly average. my expectations are through the roof for the game. So psyched it’s launching on switch 2.
Die Another Day unfortunately might be the Bond i've seen the most because my mom found a copy in the Kmart bargain bin back in the day. it's really bad, but i have some nostalgia around it too, including a couple of fun moments.
Golden Eye is a top tier bond. Tomorrow Never Dies is a blast. The World is Not Enough is fine and Die Another Day is pretty bad.
The problem with the last two from Bronsan is that they had the potential to do something different and then just chickened out. The World is Not Enough could have had a genuinely compelling female villain, but that came to pretty much nothing. While Die Another Day could have dealt with the trauma of torture and imprisonment but was more interested in being an extremely poor nostalgia trip to celebrate the series' 40th Anniversary, which they delayed the release of the film for and seemingly didn't use that additional time to improve a single thing about it.
Watching Die Another Day and completely forgot about the surfing. The Brosnan films were victim to them trying to copy other 90s films and shoehorning in shit like the surfing.
It’s definitely the Mr freeze Batman Bond movie. I kind of love that part of bond movies though. Very much a product of their time.
