It still blows my mind how bad Spectre was.

I enjoyed it more on subsequent viewings, unlike quantum.

I didn’t like Quantum of Solace either, but it had more memorable visuals and scenes tha Spectre to me. Plus, the cast and hype for Spectre was so huge and it was just a giant turd.

I have never watched Spectre, but I did watch the fight between Daniel Craig and Dave Bautista on the train and I enjoyed the hell out of that. And I love Skyfall.

Spectre is definitely worth a watch, especially if they keep some of the same storyline going in the next film.

Honestly I care very little about Bond, I think the only full movies I've seen are Casino Royale and Skyfall. But I'm always interested leading up to one. Then people usually tell me it's bad and I don't get around to it.

Spectre was not bad, just wasn’t the worthy follow-up to Skyfall everyone wanted. And it’s way better than Quantum, like by a lot.

  8. Spectre was bad though

The opening sequence of Spectre is by itself better than all of Quantum. Never got the hate for Spectre, really. I don't love the retcon, but I thoroughly enjoyed that movie in the theaters.

I thought Spectre was decent when I saw it in theaters, but I haven’t watched it since and I still don’t have any real desire to revisit it.

The opening scene of Spectre may be the best opening of any Bond film, ever.

Skyfall is the bet for me for this moment alone

Him running through that city/parade or whatever?

That felt so un-Bond to me that it totally pulled me out of it.

interesting, what felt un-Bond about it? I've just never heard anyone describe the scene that way haha.

I'm def a fan of Spectre except for the brother stuff and the color palate. especially after looking so beautiful in Casino, QoS, and Skyfall

I should have clarified, but I meant that it's "un-Bond" in the way that it's not the Bond that I want to see. I find the set pieces that are more intimate or sleuthing around with gadgets, etc... way more interesting and entertaining than him running around some city with a camera strapped onto him with a helicopter flying around and near crashing into a hundred people and killing them.

That scene felt like Michael Bay directed it and it rubbed me the wrong way. It made me roll my eyes quite a bit, as did the rest of the movie.

ahh, makes sense. totally fair. I really enjoyed it, but boy do I love the more low key spy stuff.

there's two things I'd love to get with Bond going forward and i'll likely get neither haha. I'd love an entire black and white Bond in the style of the Casino Royale opening, and I'd love for them to redo the books as a streaming service or premium channel set up. do them all in the cold war era, and do it like Series of Unfortunate Events where every two episodes is a book.

  18. The only thing I remember about Spectre at this point is that mountain chase scene that lasted what felt like 3 hours

I'm not familiar with the books, but I am TOTALLY down for them to try something interesting and outside of the box instead of going back to the well for the 25th time.

Fukunaga is a badass, so I'm assuming this one will at least be good though.

definitely. and him bringing in Linus Sandgren as cinematographer will be excellent as well

I'm not familiar with him, but I'll take your word for it! I don't think I've seen anything he worked on.

I haven't seen a ton of his work, but La La Land and First Man were both great looking films, so there's that! haha

I’m down with that but please just give me the old bond formula. Cold open that isn’t related to the rest of the movie, then he gets an assignment from M, gets some gadgets from Q etc.

I’d love a stand-alone mission and story. Every movie doesn’t need to tie into the other ones.
