James Blake is an English singer songwriter and electronic producer from London. He got his start with a run of early EPs at the beginning of the decade that established his sound as futuristic, post-dubstep that took a different route than the in-your-face americanized dubstep that was becoming popular at the time. In 2011, he released his debut self-titled record, in which he incorporated a singer-songwriter component into his electronic compositions. He followed this up with 2013's Overgrown, another singer-songwriter electronic fare that expanded its influences into soul and r&b music. His last releases was the 200 Press EP, and his long awaited forthcoming full length, Radio Silence, has been rumored to be on the way for at least a couple of years now. There's no telling when it'll finally see the light of day, but with his extensive back catalog of EPs and singles, along with his two full lengths, there's plenty of James Blake music to hold us over while we wait. Use this thread to discuss how excited you are for the new record or how much you enjoy his old stuff, and if you've never gotten into Blake, take this as an opportunity to get familiar.
im listening to air and lack thereof right now for the first time in forever, if im not mistaken this was his first release, it came out in 2009. its crazy to see where he's gone since these tunes, however 200 Press kind of leaned back on this style in a way he hasnt in a long time. im really curious as to what direction radio silence will be taking.
He is amazing. Probably one of the artists I listen to the most consistently, maybe because he's got those two distinct, separate styles that I can go to him when I'm looking for various different things. New track this year was pretty cool and I hope the album is coming soon.
