I'm a fan of the length. I think after the first listen I thought it was a bit long, but as I've grown more familiar with each track, I don't think there's anything I'd cut and I think it all flows beautifully.
I went into this not knowing what to expect at all. I'm on the last song now and I absolutely loved this album. It was such a captivating listen. I found myself swaying along to certain songs and feeling an emotional tug on others. It's long as far as the tracklist goes, but it didn't feel nearly as long while I was listening to it. Really glad I checked this album out. Looking forward to getting familiar with this album.
I'd highly highly recommend his other work then! I'd recommend going backwards. Overgrown, then James Blake. If you want more after that he's released a number of EPs and singles and they're all really good.
I've listened to this a lot less than I should have due to so many other records coming out (but mostly because Radiohead came out like two days later).
Very excited to see him again, even more excited to see him without the awkward context of opening for Drake at an Amphitheater. Price tag isn't too pretty here, just hoping I can get a pair before scalpers.
I still haven't listened to this lol... so much great music recently that this one totally slipped my mind.
I can appreciate what he's doing here, but I think it's too long... having a hard time keeping focused for the entirety of it...
If you remove tracks 6-8 and 17 from this album, it's pretty much perfect. I mean it's great anyway but I do think it's a little too long. Without a doubt his best work so far though.
