this is the kind of rollout I can get behind!

 

Fuck yeah

 

Went back to the self titled for the first time in probably a few years this morning. It's so good. I love the way he's progressed and shifted his sound from album to album (not to mention the more dance oriented EPs and singles). I'm so very excited for this album.

 

Self titled one of the most influential albums in my life

 

I love them all, but s/t is far and away my favorite

 

Whole album allegedly sounds like 3000 rapping over CMYK but you didn’t hear it from me

 

Dunno why but I really feel like this is going to be his best. At the very least his most interesting. I really need I know what the Rosalía track sounds like.

 

As much as I miss his roots in dance music, I also feel like this will be his best

 

his last album was insanely fucking good so I assume (form) this will be the same

 

Last one is excellent. I find it a difficult listen though cause it’s so isolating.

 

Echoing all the sentiments here. Especially pumped for the 3000 feature!!!

Whoa, I had no idea he was dating Jameela Jamil. Wild.

Assume Form is pop. There are very few opaque chamber numbers here, pretty, twinkling piano songs as ephemeral as they obviously weren't to write. That is how I used to think of Blake but this is muscular writing, full of melody.”

I Need a Forest Fire is so good that people forget about this track sometimes. What I would do for a full collab album. JV has said that James is the most talented dude he’s ever worked with.

what the fuck is this

all three of his other records were on repeat for weeks when I heard them and I expect the same of this

 

yeah I don't really like Overgrown but it still obviously warranted repeat listens - Blake's style demands you take the time to fully absorb it. and self/titled/The Colour in Anything just get more outstanding the more you hear them. sounds like the writer of that review is just straight-up too lazy to give them the time they need

 

I mean I obviously disagree with those opinions also, but I think that writer did a good job of explaining the ways in which this record will be different... If it really is THAT much more immediate, it’ll be interesting to see how well it does.
