I always felt like HH are one of them bands that gets a lot of hate because it was trendy to hate them, and it was sort of disproportionate to how bad they were.

100%. They are definitely interested of the bands that it's just "cool" to hate on. Sure the lyrics aren't the best but that can be says for alot of bands earlier work.
