I like it, just don’t come to it as often as my tier 1 songs. heres a fun one…what is Andrew’s best post-Jack’s Mannequin song? My immediate gut reaction is one of Blue Vacation, High Dive, or House in the Trees…but i have a feeling id have a hard time picking and would add more songs to that list if I sat and thought about it for more than a few seconds lol
All our lives is up there for me. Classic Andrew to me. Catchy melody, good storytelling, and really good lyrics.
“Maps for the Getaway” is my pick. Feels like a really heartfelt post-script to his JM years and his cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
Maps for the Getaway is one my all time favorite songs written by McMahon. Edit: Finished the first part of Three Pianos last night. It made me appreciate the lyrics even more.
Also the love for "Miss California" is puzzling to me. I've never liked that song, I find the vocal melody in the verses so grating.
My main issue with some of the Wilderness stuff is that it sounds like forgettable Alt Nation tracks. Still like the majority of songs though.
a lot of why I didn’t get into Zombies much is the singles all sounded like every other song I was hearing on alt radio to me haha
After the 3 I named this was the other one creeping into my head. i once made a video of my wife and I’s two week road-trip through the middle of the country (same trip I proposed) and set it to At Full Speed, and I took a lot of video on our two month honeymoon road trip around the whole country the following year…my plan is to make another video set to Maps, but I haven’t had the right combo of time/patience/drive to do it yet lol
My biggest issue with the wilderness is more so live. I know it’s an intentional choice to not have a guitarist in the live band but I would prefer to have it there. Just a preference thing. I know he is going for something a little different, especially on the three pianos tour.
I mean, he rejoined for the Upside Down Flowers era. He’s been around more often than not during that time.
