Jackass (and all of the other related content) was always just so enjoyable to me when the guys were the butt of the jokes, and Wildboyz was mostly just that. haha. Their ignorance about the animals and cultures made it so funny, but they also usually walked away with a bunch of appreciation for whatever they experienced so the show had some (mild) educational value as well. Viva La Bam was pretty fun at times, but again, a lot of that stuff revolved around Bam pranking everyone else so it wasn't quite as enjoyable for me. I also always felt like tons of that stuff was scripted and more heavily edited than the other shows so that killed some of my enthusiasm.
I recently rewatched Haggard on YouTube, my friend in college was obsessed with that movie and he got me into CKY/Jackass so we were the prime age for that type of stuff. So that’s pure nostalgia at this point. In terms of Bam’s downfall, I always assumed his mental health took a steep decline ever since Ryan Dunn died, which was his own fault.
Bam has never really gotten over it, it’s been a direct catalyst for his current situation and I’m not sure if he ever will. They were so close to each other that they were practically brothers.
bam was already deep into the throes of alcoholism and addiction before dunn died, he just likes to use his death as an excuse for sinking deeper and deeper into that hole.
Dunn would hate the POS that Bam turned into today and would think its bull crap to blame his death over a decade ago on it.
dunn wasn't much better, that whole cky crew was a bunch of junkies that thankfully a few of them like raab, dico, and rake managed to get their way out of.
Rake kicking in Bam’s car door after Bam covered him in mustard is an all-timer, especially at the end when Bam just stands there in shock despite everyone begging him not to do it. He had it coming that day.
I agree mostly but I also don’t think Steveo would take him out if he didn’t have faith. I bet bam will be expected to stay within 6 feet of Steveo the entire time lol
Yeah probably just depends on the stipulations of that (supervision, drug tests, etc.) I feel like half of Bam's problem nowadays is hanging out with all of these people who just want to ride his coattails and party with him the second he gets out of rehab. So anything that keeps him away from those people is probably a positive thing.
yeah i'm betting it'll be a similar situation to when they tried to have him in the new movie where he had to follow a whole host of strict guidelines and he inevitably ended up testing positive for like adderall. i'm sure steve-o's heart is in the right place because he genuinely loves bam, but a freshly out of the hospital bam, where he was on a ventilator and had, according to himself, something like 3 strokes from withdrawals, i dunno man.
Steve-O seems to be a little too extreme and pushy about sobriety, just something I've noticed from his podcast. Everyone on planet earth knows Bam needs to be sober, but Steve-O isn't a professional and what worked for him isn't going to work for everyone else.
i think bam needs to be home with his parents and his brother jesse, with supervised visits to see his son. at least until he can maintain some form of sobriety
I’ve noticed that about him. Beyond proud of how far he’s come but he definitely gets preachy and pushy about it.
I watched the new podcast of Wild Ride with Bam (his 3rd on the show now) and he seems a bit better, but mentally I think dude is just fried for life. So many times he just goes on tangents. You can even see Steve being like WTF is up with this dude. I hope Bam is sober and stays sober, but even if he is 100% sober for life he still isnt going to be the Viva La Bam guy or Jackass guy that we once loved.
I don't doubt that he has had tons of absolutely crazy things happen to him over the years, but I think Steve-O was (rightfully) just humoring him a lot of the time when he was telling some of those unbelievable stories. Like, they are probably partially true but either exaggerated or omitting important details. Like that story about how he kept passing out... So, he sleepwalked for a full week, went to the hospital every night for an MRI and got sent back home each time, then sleepwalks again and falls down the stairs, breaks his elbow, calls 911 and they refuse to pick him up... He climbs over the wall to escape and run to the emergency room, some kids recognize him walking down the street and offer to take him to the ER but then inexplicably decide to hold him hostage and force him to go to a bar and take a shot before they'll take him to the ER? Come on, man...
