This is a fun listen so far for real. I like "Hi De Ho" I think it's just left-field weird enough to work, and the Q-Tip feature is of course great.
I REALLY enjoyed this one. This is probably his best solo work front to back after my first listen. I liked his last album a lot too.
This was a really interesting interview. I would love to take a trip to Detroit and visit Third Man one day.
Hot diggity damn. This album is blowing my mind. Been on all day since listening this morning. It’s almost as if White Stripes and Mars Volta had a baby. I swear Jack sounds like Cedric sometimes. hey….tour idea…..
not full on Volta. But definitely expresses some of that Volta energy and experimentation. It’s just mixed with some of that White Stripes garage punk.
I totally believe it, his headlining set at Coachella years back definitely gave me Mars Volta vibes, which at the time surprised me because I never got that from his recorded material
I feel like he started heading in that direction with his last album Boarding House Reach, but he drives the vibe home on this new album. It’s got a lot more energy than BHR.
Halfway through the Zane Lowe interview and all I can think of is how I'm going to call him "Jack White and the Music Factory" because this dude really is the Willy Wonka of music. He created his own world in the music industry and it keeps getting bigger. It's incredibly fascinating.
There's just an element of fun to these.somgs that's been missing on his last few albums. And I feel like there's a more of a hip hop influence to the drums helping drive that
Since this album is completely different from Entering Heaven Alive, I decided to split the threads so there's now one for the upcoming record Jack White - Entering Heaven Alive (July 22, 2022) • forum.chorus.fm
Man this album is great!! I definitely hear how The Mars Volta fans could enjoy, it gets pretty weird while still having great riffs and rock grooves.
Got to listen to this a bit today. Probably my favorite solo work of his so far. I need to go back and give the rest a relisten but I love the guitar tones on this and the weirdness works for me
Forgot this came out, but excited to check it out after hearing hi-de-ho & watching the interview with zane
WOW, this album is intense and great. Haven't enjoyed Jack this much since the Lazaretto album. And this one is even more chaotic.
First listen today, I’m a bit floored at how much I like it. Some insanely good riffs and grooves. I really did not like the last one so really pleasant surprise. Now thinking I need to grab a ticket for the upcoming tour… I was definitely not expecting to hear Human After All-era Daft Punk influences on this album of all things but it’s there and it’s awesome. (Into The Twilight is an early favorite)
