Finally listened to this, and I've got to say I liked it a lot more than I was anticipating. I've never been a massive Jack White fan and just didn't have much interest, but this is pretty wonderfully weird.

Jack is slaying right now at the Govs Ball.

    Govs Ball 2018 Live Friday

Also, the more I listen to the new album the less weird it is and the more amazing is it.

I have always appreciated Jack White's music, although I was never a true fan. Isn't a true fan someone who knows every song, follows the artist across the country. buys every piece of memorabilia related to the artist and literally bows down to them as being one of the greatest musicians of all time? A true fan, apparently, never questions the musician's "rules". A true fan would never question the musician's reason for throwing in some song about sound sensitivity, (misophonia) which is in my opinion, a weak attempt on Jack White's part to appeal to a bigger crowd of fans that he is desperately trying to hold on to. Does he really know anything about it? "There are these people who have a hatred of sound", he says. These people? Hatred of sound? The condition, is a real disorder and little studied, but Jack White chose to write a song, believing his song could ease these people with this condition called Misophonia. His words about the condition come straight from Wikipedia. I have to wonder if he really is inspired to write a song or just reaching at straws to hold on. I have listened to his lyrics in many of his songs. My favorite is Alone in My Home, not only for the lyrics, but for the beautiful harmony of Lillie and the enormous talent she and the band contributed with that sweet fiddle and mandolin. The song could be equally moving with no lyrics.
I just read an article by Rolling Stone on Jack White written today, July 20, 2018. The article, begins with Jack White's rules for performing. He's been known to walk off stage in a tizzy and the article sets the stage for the predictable conclusion, regardless of the introduction proclaiming "no set lists" to captivate his fans. Does Jack White really want "the crowd to be in control"and "the show be alive"? He makes rules for his shows; banning cellphones, as other well-known bands have. I don't disagree with his reasoning for that, because I believe one cannot fully appreciate a performance while documenting every moment. However, he's dictating how he expects his audience to behave and throws a fit when everything doesn't go his way. He stated that "If I'm playing a White Stripes song, it has to feel alive to me. Sometimes (sometimes, being the key word), if it doesn't, I'll [think], If I keep doing this, I'm gonna be playing casinos in 10 years". Sometimes, it isn't about you, Jack. Noone can read your mind or your mood and don't want to in the middle of a show they paid for. You chose a career in the music industry and chose to perform for your fans. Deliver or go home. Most people have no clue who Jack White even is. Let's get real! He's not an icon in music and although I and many others appreciate his style and meaning in his music, his "all about me" attitude has destroyed harmonies within his personal and professional life.
I doubt casinos will take Jack White in 10 years and it's Jack White who sealed his own fate.

My cat could've wrote that song, Hypermisophoniac. If you are unhappy on stage, then get off. Write music and get paid for it, but quit raking in money for performances that you may or may not "feel" moved you in some special way. Do what you love every day and you'll never work a day in your life.

Holy shit. This is big news. LOVED both those Raconteurs albums, especially the 2nd one. Some of my favorite Jack White stuff.

yup. Comparing to stuff from his recent album It’s basically a step back with the experimentation and a step forward with the rock. It’s so good.

Now that you’re gone is good too. Reminds me of Gary Clark Jr actually.

Agreed. Honestly, I think both of these songs would have dominated MTV and the radio 15 years ago
