The 8-episode season is now streaming on Amazon Prime. The show has already been renewed for Season 2.
Watched and recapped the first three episodes today. I’m enjoying it. Perfectly fine show to watch over the long weekend.
I watched all of this over the weekend. It didn't do anything that surprising or subversive and Jack Ryan kinda seems almost too perfect haha, but it's pretty solid. I'll be checking out S2.
I went through this in a few days, really enjoyed it. I love this genre. I thought John was great, hoping to see it grow more. I enjoyed how naive he was at the beginning.
Thought this was great. I was so happy to see how they portrayed Jack Ryan. They focus on his intelligence and him being an analyst. He has a background as a marine so he can handle his shit but they never go full action hero. Stoked for season 2. However... anyone else who watched this, did I miss something? Or was the drone pilots storyline kind of completely unnecessary to the rest of the season?
I felt the same about that subplot. I like the concept of dealing with the morality of it and all that, but on top of feeling like a distraction from the main plot, I don't feel like that subplot ever even fully resolved. Like, how does that dude feel at the end? I couldn't tell.
I thought the drone thing would amount to way more. They could have cut the whole vegas thing, and just had him find out it was misidentified.
Yeah like his main story was a nice story on its own, but overall pointless to include since it doesn’t tie to anything else and no main characters seem to interact with them at all. The Vegas scene was 100 percent unnecessary. Definitely a “let’s have a weird sex scene and show boobs because we can”
He did walk right in front of the truck Jack and Greer were in when he first arrived to go find the kid and his grandfather, but they didn't do anything with that really either. Bit of a bummer.
This isn't really the kind of show I'd ever thought I'd end up liking but I'm really enjoying it so far. I love how they incorporated all of the tech aspects. It's also shot really well so that helps too.
haha as I was driving to work I was like they had to have tied it in somehow right? I just must have missed something. yeah it was a nice little story aside from the vegas scene. but then after the scene with the kid and grandfather he's just gone. oh well. rest was great.
Yeah I agree. It made sense when he unknowingly helped, but the Vegas scene was a bit much. Didn't detract from how much I enjoyed the show at least, which is nice. I'm looking forward to season 2.
knowing a season 2 was already green lit helped me adjust to knowing I only had 8 episodes and being sad when it was over haha. my buddy and I were talking that we'd like to see Amazon run the Tom Clancy universe. have Jack Ryan be the main show, then have a Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six mini series'. and then you can have characters from them all pop in and out when necessary. a pipe dream i'm sure, but dream I shall haha.
Jack Ryan's Ending And Season 2 Set Up Explained What To Expect From Jack Ryan Season 2 for anyone who's finished the season
Anyone have any recs for shows that are similar to this? Need something to hold me off til season 2 drops.
Yeah Homeland, though personally I found it very hard to stick with that show after season one. and I'd say while it's a bit more action based, 24, especially earlier seasons. and as for not shows, if you haven't watched the other Jack Ryan films I'd recommend those.
i think you'd have a lot more fun with 24. Homeland is a really great first season, but after that the character motivations become really frustrating and unbelievable for the world season 1 built in my opinion. the show is still going i think though? so clearly others may not share that opinion haha
I started 24 since it's available on Amazon. I'm on ep. 6 right now and am loving it. Thanks for the suggestions.
The previews make this seem kinda corny and pg 13 rated (ie like it would fit right in on CBS). Is that a fair assessment?
