I'm really excited for it, it seems like he's experimenting a lot with this one

  4. Haven’t really liked a lot of Cole’s stuff in a long time but the artwork for this is interesting enough that I’ll check it out for sure

Looking forward to it. His albums have gotten progressively better, although I do miss the type of hits he made in the Born Sinner era.

I really love that cover art. I wonder if this is going to be as concept driven as 4 Your Eyez was. Kind of seems like it based of the artwork.

Was gonna go to sleep but this album is keeping me awake. Cool night vibes so far for sure. Very jazzy.

Better than 4YEO but still very mid and dull at times. Gonna listen a few more times

This is by far my least favorite album by Cole. Can’t overstate how disappointed i am in this

KOD the song would be solid if it didn’t have that super whack outro

This is very very dark. I like it honestly, definitely an album to get in your head to.

On first listen this is really fucking weird, I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet. I really loved the first half but the second half is gonna take some more listens I think.

I kind of wish he didn't hint at another album at the end, I feel like that fact keeps distracting me from taking this in

EDIT: Never mind, the second half is fantastic. Some of his best rapping ever

I didn’t care for 4YEO at all, is this worth a listen?

Depends on what aspect of that album you didn't like to say for sure, but this one is definitely more interesting both musically and thematically imo

I'll probably have to listen to this since it will be all my students will be talking about. The first song wasn't that bad.

Never been a big J Cole fan, will this change that?

I just realized that J Cole made an empathetic DARE album and released it on 4/20. Positive message aside, that's hilarious.

Playing it while my kids take a test. It's okay. He has the same flow a lot of the time.

This is a good album not that "different" and "experimental" as it was advertised to be.

It's a lot better than 4YEO, but not as good as FHD, I'd place it somewhere in the middle of those two. I'd say the biggest drawback are the choruses as some of them are pretty weak cuz Cole himself is singing.

However, lyrically there's a lot going and it's much more than just an anti drug album as some said it was. It'll take a while to digest it all.

Also if you liked everybody dies and false prophets, you'll like some of the stuff here, especially the last track.

Early standouts are ; Photograph, the cut off, once an addict, friends, window pain and 1985- the latter three mentioned, being top notch shit.

He’s not good. Listening to this record, probably the millionth time I’ve given JCole a shot. He’s just corny and his flows do nothinnnnng for me

I really loved 1985. Trying to preach to the young rappers out there who won't be around forever.
