Damn, that ending last night was heavy. Although, the idea of a public execution via guillotine reinforces the fact that the premise this season doesn't make a ton of sense in the real world.
Zombie as other isn't exactly a new thing. Same with orcs, extraterrestrials, basically any other mob that can be equated to yellow peril or whatever. The difference here is that these zombies are sentient and so. similar. to us. In Supergirl, it's almost "should we deport all the extraterrestrials?" Here, it's "should we contain all the zombies?" I mean, yeah, it's pretty superficial, that's about as far as the real life correlations get, but it's definitely there. Last night's episode will definitely propel the rest of the season as far as giving Liv a meaningful goal.
Zombie as other is literally why zombies exist in film. Their introduction into film in the 10's-20's was a portrayal of tribal 'savages'. They've always been used as a stand-in for global crisis or mass hysteria. This felt 'okay' because they were basically just hollow shells of people. Its just gotten strange because at this point, they are just people. All of these films and shows with zombies now (San Clarita, Warm Bodies, iZombie) have emotional beings that just happen to be undead. Before, it was felt a bit more subtle. Nowadays every allegory is pretty cut and dry. I'm not really sure what the point I'm making is. Maybe that it just isn't very thought provoking?
Kinda floored by the North Battleford, Saskatchewan reference. That's some inside-baseball, obscure Canadian small-town shit.
Rachel Bloom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Liv ate her brain ! 525,000 zombies to love what does Andy Serkis need to do to get an Oscar?
ahhh I wasn't paying attention to the screen and knew it was her right away. I love how CW reuses EVERYONE.
I hope your eggplant emoji falls off, and you drown in a pool of your own poop emoji I hate your pig face emoji you hate warm weather and This Is Us, yeah it's emotionally manipulative what do you think of the hat, I thought Kevin Federline wore it better
