I've been thinking about the scene where Dennis returns all day, I had the hugest smile on my face the whole time. I knew there was no way he was actually leaving but I was still so happy lol A few weeks ago the cast said he's in the "majority" of the season, do you guys think that just means most of this episode? I can't see him missing any more episodes, it would be really weird if he just randomly didn't appear again now. I saw a new ad that included scenes from the upcoming Times Up episode and Dennis was in it, when they intentionally left him out of any ads with that episode before
The Gang Dines Out Charlie Rules the World The Gang Gets Analyzed Mac and Dennis Move to the Suburbs Flowers for Charlie The Gang Group Dates Sweet Dee Has A Heart Attack Charlie Kelly: King of the Rats The Nightman Cometh The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis My top 10, wasnt easy, could change. These top 4 here are the objective best though.
Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis Thunder Gun Express The Gang Gets Extreme: Home Makeover Edition Dennis & Dee Go on Welfare Mac & Charlie Die The Gang Goes on Family Fight Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs The Gang Hits the Road Chardee MacDennis probably? idk.
"I'll tell you what, I like to eat cock." And one of the hardest I've ever laughed at this show is...
"Everybody's dying, let's get you some fruit." I think this every single time I go to a farmer's market lol
What episodes do you guys recommended to first-time watchers besides starting with S1E1? I've found that "The Gang Hits the Road", "The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis" and "The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention" are good episodes that give you a clear idea of what makes the show so damn funny/unique while also having some of the best bit in the whole series. Those episodes are quintessential Sunny to me.
Charlie cutting the brakes and yelling "Wildcard Bitches!" is probably my favorite scene. It's an impossible task to rank the episodes of this show, so many high marks
Youve gotta show a newcomer an episode that serves as an intro to the characters. All the very best episodes rely on your familiarity with the characters and so theyre not a good starting point. Ive been wrestling with that recently trying to show someone the show too ha.
The Gas episode is a perfect introduction to the characters! They even do a run down of their roles haha
The first episode I saw was the Manhunters one. There's only so many times I can see a commercial saying "feel my nips" and not get curious
That's part of why I think those episodes work for that though - the jokes introduce you to the quirks of each character while still simply being funny to anyone seeing it for the first time. For example, Charlie never having eaten a pear or left Philly in his life, Mac talking about his "ocular pat down" that clearly didn't work and got the car stolen, etc. They aren't really callbacks that make a first time viewer feel like they're missing something, they just demonstrate how dumb the characters are. haha.
Yeah there are a lot of episodes post-season 7 that might be difficult to jump into the series with though
It's because they started relying much more heavily on callbacks, I would say. I think the difference is whether or not you're going to have to explain the jokes to the person seeing the show for the first time. Side note, one of my favorite moments of this entire series is when they're trying to give Frank an intervention, and they tell the lady he always carries a gun. They lure him down to the bar by saying there's a fire, yet Frank still comes in with his gun "Where's that god damn fire?!"
they def started to focus more on carving out identities for the characters that tackle common personal and societal issues as time went by. That didnt really start to be as focused of an effort until season 6 or something iirc. Now its like the primary thing. The Gang Gets Analyzed is where all that comes to a big head after a bunch of build up. Mac - baptist rock, flag, eagle and in the closet, body dysmorphia Dennis - social psychopath Dee - desperately needs approval Charlie - completely out of touch with reality Frank - rich dumb baby boomer asshole
