I thought it was a pretty good episode. Mindy felt a bit out of place but other than that it didn’t feel off to me.

 

Everyone seemed out of character to me, Frank especially. He was just kinda there and didn’t add anything.

I hate the Waitress stuff now

the Dennis sex doll was shown in the preview and the joke didn’t really go anywhere (also they all fucked the doll together? What the hell?)

 

The “liberal tears” wine and the MAGA hat parody felt like lazy joke writing for 2018 political humor. Was it supposed to reflect that Mindy’s character wasn’t funny?

Anyway that’s all I’ll say and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season!

 

I thought this episode was great. Sure it was weird, and everyone was out of character, but that was also the point. With Cindy, all of their lives were so much better. The Dennis sex doll came in and started destroying everyone and when the real Dennis is there they actually choose him completely knowing that he makes them miserable. I liked the political jokes, though they were somewhat dated.

 

I'm still yet to watch last night's episode, is Mindy a one off ? If so, I'm glad because I never really found her funny.

 

Gang Goes to the Waterpark is probably my favorite, even though it's so hard to rank....

Was that even in the top 10?

 

I thought the episode was decent. When Dennis announced his presence I laughed so fuckin' hard

Like Jason said, glad it's back. There will always be like, 8 solid episodes every season, haha. I have faith.

In looking at the episode list, I legit didn't remember a single thing from seasons 10 and 11. I also think Mac Day is my favorite episode of this show.

 

Decent premiere

 

in my experience no one ever really likes the first episode as much as the others anyway so I wouldn’t worry too much about it

 

I didn't like this one, but to be fair, the new ones (past 3-4 seasons) are always off-putting to me at first for some reason, sometimes takes a rewatch. I just have such incredibly high expectations for this show and the new ones don't tend to meet them. I thought everything was "off" in this one and not just because Dennis was gone.....did not like Mindy.........Mac fucking the doll is funny and in character......everyone else.......not in character and super weird

Glad they only stuck with Charlie and The Waitress together for 1 episode........that was not going to work long-term, it puts a roadblock on all the comedy that is mined from that relationship

All the doll stuff was pretty good, just didn't care for the episode much overall.

Also Glenn looks really old all the sudden.

 

Also this was one of the rare episodes where the overall plot (make paddy's great again) feels really forced......reminded me of the "tipping point" crap from "How Mac Got Fat" that never worked for me. These guys are at their best when scheming in really ridiculous ways

 

Dennis' subplot in The Gang Finds a Dumpster Baby might be the funniest thing this show has done imo

 

Vulture list is funny. They got some right (I agree on their worst 2 episodes), but they have Mac and Charlie Die at 110 and another list I read this week had that #1. I guess that shows how many goddamn great episodes this show has.

Their top 20 has maybe 4 I agree with.

Sweet Dee's Dating a Retarded Person at 46 is criminal

Mac Bangs Dennis's Mom at 103 ????

Hero Or Hate Crime at 63 ??

 

The point is, there are wayyyy too many great episodes to rank.

I could probably do a top 10-20 and a bottom 5.......the rest would be very tough to rank

I am rewatching right now (am in season 8) and the only one I ever skip is Frank's Brother.

 

I did enjoy "Dennis is a bastard man"

 

I don’t hate “Frank’s Brother” but I do agree it’s at the bottom of the barrel as far as episodes of this show go. That said, it’s still better than “A Cricket’s Tale”. Not even close.

 

A Cricket's Tale is not great, but nowhere near the bottom 5, at least for me.

The Gang Turns Black definitely shouldn't be the 2nd bottom episode. It's probably in my top 15%.

 

I think if you forced everyone to rank all the Sunny episodes, everybody’s list would be wildly different (expect for Frank’s Brother being last). The show is just too consistent. I think all the episodes in the top ten of that list are high-tier Sunny so the list is fine with me.

 

Nice List! The Gang Broke Dee and Water Park are the two that I'd add, but I dunno which I'd switch them out for. All so good...

 

I should have prefaced my comment by saying I thoroughly enjoy every episode of this show - but that one felt entirely like filler to me. It was ok but not close to the rest of the show IMO. But like the comment that was just posted, the show is VERY consistent so I’d be willing to concede that my expectations for that episode are too high.
