"When Landgraf ordered the first season, he set a budget of $450,000 per episode, less than a third the cost of a network sitcom." 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia': A low-budget hit
I like it better with the outside world as the voice of reason rather than Dee, that way Kaitlin actually gets to be funny
Season 1 feels like a bunch of kids having fun and making the jokes they'd make hanging out in private, without any regard for conventional wisdom in media. And I think that mindset is the core of what the series is, at least at its best. The show definitely got even better once Frank came in, but I'd still put S1 above many of the more recent seasons that have lost some of that carefree early magic.
I have gotten up to Sweet Dee Dates A R*****ed Person and I feel horrible for laughing but that episode was great, mainly the whole bit revolving around the band more than anything to with her storyline though. The ending was cool. I've really enjoyed the last few episodes. The one where they get taken hostage was another highlight.
That is one of my top 5 for sure. Except I can’t unsee the fact that Dee is limping on the wrong ankle at the end after she “shatters” it haha.
the whole Carmen storyline is pretty gross in general, especially with how they basically said that dating a trans woman makes you gay, and how much they focused on her genitals
I think I mentioned it in the LGBTQ thread long ago but Ace Ventura was on tv the other night and the ending is incredibly problematic
The episode where they try to go to the grand canyon is my all time favorite. It starts out right away with a great laugh “WHY TODAY OF ALL DAYS DEE MUST YOU GET A NEW CAR??”
Easily a top ten episode. I cry laughing no matter how many times I see it at two separate scenes (Mac "firing one across the bikers' bow" and Dee singing Soul Asylum and then throwing her pee all over Mac)
Just saw an ad for the thing where you can watch the premiere early with FX+ and it’s a bit spoilery.. i think we all assumed this would be the case anyway but unless I’m badly mistaken, looks like the gang’s all here
Yeah, they definitely showed a brand new scene with Dennis in that FX+ ad, saw it on Facebook haha. Someone messed up.
