here we go! also holy shit so much hate for meg in the comments, didn't realize so many people don't like her as a person or her writing, i love her! anywho, stoked for a new season!
that's what i am saying, i was shocked to see everyone say the writing on the show went downhill after she joined, etc someone was like her episodes are high rated on IMDB blah blah i love meg!
I don't dislike Megan Ganz, but I have noticed that Always Sunny has seemed to have had a sharp decline in quality ever since she was hired (season 12 I believe?) That being said, correlation does not equal causation! So, I have no idea who was responsible for the decline in quality in the show. Not gonna blame Megan without knowing the details. At the very least, she seems like a fun person from the podcast and the cast seem to love her.
Megan is like arguably the best comedy writer of her generation. almost every episode credited to her name is an absolute masterclass in character writing, joke construction, A+ dialogue, whatever. you could teach them all in classes. whether or not Sunny overall has gone downhill since she came on (I don't think it has for the record) it's not on her at all
S13 is absolutely the show's low point, but I still think every season since has been worse than seasons 1-12. I don't really get excited to watch this show anymore haha
I use to think this way for a long time until I decided to give them another shot. Now they are some of my favorite seasons.
Since I first went through the series I always made note to “research” why Dennis was weirdly missing/written off for a few episodes. I assume it was because he was busy with a role in a movie or something and always forget to actually see if it was anything more than that. In additional Dennis news, the scene/second of him screaming into the pillow in the “Mac Day” or whatever it is called episode when they’re by the bridge pops up in my mind like a billion times a day. Really captures how I feel lately about work and is like a mini-release valve of tension lol
He was definitely wanting time to do different things, but he said he was mainly burned out on the show since he co-wrote the episodes and then starred in them just like the other two. He wanted out of the show completely during Season 12 so they wrote him out during the finale, but Rob and Charlie ended up bargaining with him to return JUST as an actor for some of Season 13. He said just that little break from writing made him want to jump back into the show. I always thought he just wanted a break from it, but the way he's told it in some interviews seemed to indicate that he really planned to leave for good at one point in time.
yeah he said just acting would be easier to walk back into then writing AND acting, that can be exhausting doing it year after year, i totally respected that decision. i also do think that they could of took a year off, the show has been on long enough we can wait ya know? i get money has got to be made, but that's what i would've done.
damn i just realized my man mrk brdshw prolly was responsible for my drunk ass listening to 10 straight matchbox songs tonight, kinda subliminally preciate ya bud
I'm a few days late on this but where did Glenn give all that info about wanting to leave for good and making a deal to come back just as an actor for a while? This is my first time hearing this and I follow everything about this show pretty closely usually
This was from like four years ago, but it’s the most in depth he’s gone about that, to my knowledge. He makes it clear that he had always left the door open (obviously) but definitely says more than once that 12 was intended to be his “last” season. Says he was “tapped out” creatively and thought he had said everything he wanted to say with the show. But then he goes on to explain how he ended up returning for 13. Even the hosts kind of comment on how the crew downplayed his departure at the time because obviously the way he described it in the interview was way more permanent than they initially let on.
