Wow the bit on the new podcast of Charlie and Glenn recreating the scene from the episode was fantastic, I was cracking up. Seems like a really good insight as to how they stumble across bits too
That was such a good idea from Rob to have them do that. Once it diverged to them just making shit up instead of following the episode, it felt just like you were sitting there watching them work out a scene for real.
This latest podcast episode makes me really want to see all of these canceled pilots they've talked about. Just that little clip of that Boldly Going Nowhere show looked great.
I want Devito on the podcast so bad lol I love how they laugh at absolutely everything he says when they watch clips
lol I loved when Hornsby was talking about how effortlessly funny he is, like they all try to work out the funniest ways to pull off entire scenes and then Danny swoops in and says one word and everyone cracks up. It's so true though - "Done".
I haven't enjoyed the recent ones where it feels like you need to watch it, not just listen. I tried to watch this week's but bailed after 20ish minutes.
I've been enjoying it consistently. I don't like them using audio without the video for clips. It takes you out of everything they are trying to evoke.
Yeah, I still love it. It's like a core part of my Monday morning routine when I get to the office. haha. They've been doing a good job changing it up. You can tell they're just all much busier right now than when they started the podcast, but it's still a great listen. I definitely noticed a drop in excitement (particularly in this thread) around the time they started doing ad reads though.
Oh my god https://www.indiewire.com/2022/08/always-sunny-pranked-danny-devito-with-fake-episode-1234755942/
Oh my god, this most recent podcast... a ten minute discussion about how Glenn is able to shit on command if he just imagines a dog shitting. Next level content.
It’s the lean into the video content for me. I don’t want to watch something, I want a podcast. So when there’s clips and cuts and shit like that, or it opens telling me it’s most a video, I don’t listen. it’s still great when it’s not leaning into that, but cutting up them talking for “here’s a bunch of clips of the guys being like their characters” takes me 1000000% out and makes it not a spontaneous conversation/podcast anymore
Yeah, I imagine there are a lot of people who feel that way as well. I "watch" most of the episodes (aka pull them up on one of my three monitors at work and occasionally glance over) and even then, I notice a big disruption to the flow of the episode whenever they start watching clips or start explaining a visual joke.
I'm a creep so I'm enjoying the clips, I think it's fun to watch them react to shit in real time. Haven't really had an episode yet I haven't enjoyed.
