It's always kinda nerve-wracking to post things like this when you're the first one to do it... but holy shit, that was one of the best episodes of the series. The entire Ireland arc was fucking phenomenal and probably one of the best things the show has ever done, but that last episode was just incredible. Hilarious, gorgeously shot and genuinely emotional. That scene with Charlie in the rain was devastating and insanely well acted by Day, and when they came back for him at the end and walked off together I actually teared up a little bit. This show has evolved so much since it started but I never saw something like this coming I almost think this season could have just worked as an Always Sunny movie, starting with the Gang Replaces Dee With a Monkey on. It has everything; Dee's acting, Dennis being insane, Mac having an identity crisis, Charlie going through an amazing personal arc, and a really touching moment between Frank and Charlie towards the end. Could have been a great movie This was definitely the best season since at least 12, maybe even the best of the double digits, I'd have to look. I can't believe we're already confirmed to have at least three more
I dont LOL at much these days, but when Mac slams the body bag down in frustration I literally lost it.
I wish the season started with the monkey episode, then had 6-8 episodes episodes in Ireland or something.
Frank thinking ivermectin makes you fully vaccinated was incredible also think I figured out why the rest of the gang got vaxxed- Dee just didn't want to die, Mac wanted to go to a gym or gay bar that required it, and Charlie was worried because he and Frank play nightcrawlers that he'd give it to him
Frank trying to eat the meatball made me laugh as hard or harder than anything on this tv in a long time
Pretty sure they actually filmed the final episode in Ireland lol Interesting season and interesting episodes. I liked Lethal Weapon 7, but the final 5 episodes were all solid. I wonder if they stick with 8 episodes a season means we get a season every year again
One small gripe with the final two episodes is that there was a ton of telling, not showing. It would've been hilarious to see COVID Dennis shit his pants and pass out or to see an Irish doctor get doused with got oil.
This is a nitpick (which might be addressed in the future), but I still think it's weird that Shelley apparently has the same last name as Bonnie and Uncle Jack. Some people have suggested that it's just coincidence since Kelly is a really common surname, but....if that's the case (and the last name is actually an irrelevant coincidence) then it's a little clunky to use that as the plot piece that causes Charlie to go looking for a person he believes to be a relative. Like, it would have been just as easy and more straightforward to give Shelley a different last name and have Charlie find him under different circumstances, only to realize that he was his father. Either way though, I'm still going with the theory that Shelley and Bonnie are cousins and that's why she tried to have Charlie aborted.
the second half of this season was incredible. I still have most of the show fresh in my mind from the binge and I legitimately think this is as good as it's ever been. some top-tier Dennis moments when he burst out of the painting or screaming ONE VOLUME FOR EVERYONE IN THE WORLD? THAT'S SOCIALISM. Mac's slow realisation about Gus was some of Rob's best work ever too Charlie's acting was legitimately amazing and I would have fully bought him just staying in Ireland if this had been the end of the show. fully agree that this could have been a movie without changing all that much
Yeah that definitely should have been a movie. The entire arc was great, I think making it 10 episodes and adding 2 fillers before the last episode would have been great too though
yeah I thought up until last week this season was 10 episodes, that was a bummer. definitely feels like they should have run into Cricket or a McPoyle clan in Ireland also I know I shouldn't think too seriously about this show, but the fact that Charlie's dad died because Dennis and Frank didn't get vaccinated is actually really upsetting lol
I didn’t think the amount of green HSL slider used during the last episode was humanly/technologically possible but they did it. Jesus.
So I’m watching through the show for the first time and loving it. Crying laughing so many times. But I just got through the “Mac Finds His Pride” dance, and that was one of the most unexpected, beautiful moments that I won’t soon forget.
Finished the season last night. Another amazing one in the books. I cracked up extremely hard when they throw the corpse from the mountain and it hits the rocks, and then are comforted by the fact nearby kids will pass by and see it.
