Holy shit the way Glenn said "You've seen them before!" during the talk about seeing loved one's bodies at funerals was 100% Dennis delivery, I was cracking up I'm on his side of that argument btw
I laughed so hard at the idea that they had to explain their “non-country-specific tidal wave” idea to Pepper Jack and he apparently just went with it.
Dee's personality and Charlie's competence in the flashback episode made no sense haha Charlie being unable to comprehend the concept of Pittsburgh was incredible
- First episode probably had some conflicting information from past backstory on the show lol (for example it's been made pretty clear that Dee has always been a psycho, like burning her roommate in college) but I really liked it, especially the Dennis and Frank story which was fucking hilarious. It was really funny to show them not liking the name or interior of the bar but being too lazy to change it - Second episode was a great example of making a really funny episode for probably a tiny budget. The bar scenes had me laughing out loud the whole time just from the dialogue and the Dee plot had a ton of great moments too, especially airing directly after the episode before for even more juxtaposition The first half of this season (bummed we're already halfway done) has been fucking excellent so far, they're 4/4 for me. It looks like pretty much the rest of the season will take place in Ireland so that's going to be really interesting to see
I feel like Roller Rink was written as a vehicle for getting Mac to dress that way. Such a weird, bad episode. I’m not a backstory stickler, but when backstories and personalities are as well fleshed out as the Gang’s have been through 14 seasons, to come up with worse ones unnecessarily is a bummer. Rare swing and a miss by Hornsby. Very strange.
Roller Rink was definitely an absolute misfire. literally my only laugh was an obvious improv from Rob and Charlie ("no with their gun" "ohhh with THEIR gun") Monkey episode was the best in awhile though. both plots were absolutely fantastic. can't stop laughing at the way Glenn said "GO WHERE?! PURPLE?"
Lol yeah what is up with Roller Rink? Like they had to know while they were filming it that nothing was popping, right? I would've much rather just seen the present gang buy a roller rink
gotta make up the episode quota I guess? can't believe Hornsby wrote such a stinker though also Kaitlin's delivery of "guess what DICKNIPS" absolutely destroyed me
Gang Buys A Roller Rink is just such a misfire, like... I can deal with them stepping on their own continuity if the episode is funny (it's a flashback from their own unreliable memories after all) but it just wasn't funny at all. Didn't even feel like the jokes weren't landing, it just felt like an Always Sunny episode with the gags surgically removed. I'm wondering if after all was said and done, they looked at episodes 1 and 3, saw they were clunkers, and came up with the two episodes a night release schedule, cause each cruddier episode has been directly followed up with a much, much better one. "Thank you, Monkey."
Roller Rink is another one of these later episodes that was not funny in the slightest but still kept me entertained somehow. I had fun watching it even though it basically didn’t get a single laugh out of me lol. The Monkey episode, on the other hand, was really funny. Especially since it’s pretty clearly a setup episode for the Ireland trip. Overall, I’m still digging this season more than the last couple. For some reason it just feels like they’re having more fun with it.
lol @ the newest podcast episode. Why do all three of these guys have some sort of version of playing dead as a prank when they were younger?
