I guess I'm catching up on this because the acclaim for the new episode has me curious and I've always wanted to see that part of the book adapted ...must be a sharp improvement at some point because e3 was bad bad, I was laughing out loud at the graveyard scene. also Lilly just being back at school the next day after they send her to Juniper Hill, baffling writing
this show is such a mixed bag, moments like the Marge eye scene you think they're really onto something and the kid actors (especially Lilly and Ronnie) are carrying it phenomenally. then it cuts back to the military storyline and there's a magic dagger and 13 magic rocks and its like what the fuck are we doing here man real shame Adepo and Chalk had to be stuck giving such great performances in this hot trash storyline
The military subplot was really good in episode 5, but overalll yeah it's been meh. I do really like what Chalk has been doing with Halloran though.
caught up with this and yeah episode was... good? really strong opening and that scene with Ingrid is probably Skarsgard's best work ever, but all the momentum just dies when it cuts back to the military and their real plan is somehow even stupider than the made up one. just a colossal black mark on this whole show also glad they had Charlotte say "this town is the monster" just in case anyone at the back had missed the entire point of the book
I wonder if the EMTs were like okay lots of black folk dead, that tracks, yadda yadda yadda, a dead white woman randomly dressed as a clown?!?! ... Yeah nothing to see here. Like ??? Them carting her off in her clown suit actually gave me a lil needed laughter after the trauma of everything else
Pennywise slicing that dudes head in half and eating his brains while chatting with his daughter sent me
they're slowly turning Pennywise into Freddy Krueger in this show lol. the phone call and the "do I have face on my face" were pure Freddy
The military stuff bores the hell out of me but Bill Skarsgaard has more than made up for it the last couple of episodes. Dude crushes it.
Ok it looks like instead being a straight up backwards chronological anthology like I thought there is likely going to be some weird time jumping going forward. Some of these character arcs felt like they were left hanging.
Finally watching ep2. Just got real excited recognizing Taylour Paige. I’ve been hoping to see her in something since she had that guest appearance on Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. She’s one of my favorite parts of that album lol.
I didn't think this show was necessarily great. It had some great moments, it also had some really bad moments. Mostly it was a fun time though. I'll watch season 2.
Ok ok. That was good! Military stuff was the weak link all season. Credit scene worked on me. The Richie stuff was the fight kind of Hollywood move for me.
