Okay what the fuuuuuuuck is with the birthing scenes in this show so far? Oh my god. Heads up for anyone who felt squeamish in that first episode…
The girl playing Marge kills it. Highlight performance of this show so far. That actress played young Mackenzie Davis in the flashback parts of Station Eleven. It occurred to me that Will and Ronnie are Mike's parents, which means in this adaptation's universe they both burn to death in a fire years later and it bummed me out. Looks like we are getting Shawshank Prison next episode I looked for more connections between characters in this show and the original story. In the novel Ritchie's late mother's name was Maggie. Maggie is a nickname of Margeret, another nickname for Margaret is Marge. Just sayin.
This second episode was also great. The creature designs so far are A+. I am very curious of the viewership numbers for this series as it progresses. Normies are gonna wanna tune for “the scary clown” and so far nothing.
the writing on this show is so odd, none of the characters talk like people the actors for Lilly and Marge are really good though and I could watch Jovan forever
I loved IT when I was younger. I tried watching Episode 1 tonight and could not get into this at all. Probably out on this, unfortunately.
I tried the first two episodes of this and was pretty underwhelmed, and I really went in hoping to like this. The move they pulled with the main characters was cool, and I was surprised at the level of gore, but Andy Muschietti's take on King is getting pretty tiresome by this point. Is he directing all of these? I think I was hoping for viscerally terrifying, and the "scary" scenes here are mostly just loud & fast & CGI, which is a well this dude loves to go back to. I'll probably try another episode or two to see where they're going with this
They're supposed to get really deep into Stephen King lore stuff this season, like very deep wider Dark Tower mythos stuff. I am just waiting for that. There is gonna be a shift this season where stuff gets real weird.
IT is a big part of DT (mid)world building so makes sense. don't know how much I trust Muschietti with this stuff though honestly would rather he left it for Flanagan
This show has some big flaws, but I am enjoying myself. Hoping it's not as big of disappointment as Alien: Earth. Really Andor might have been the only truly great big franchise expanded universe type show of 2025.
Muschietti’s first IT movie had a lot of great, scary scenes - particularly with Skarsgård as Pennywise - this show so far has been much more like the giant Paul Bunyan statue attack & Chinese Food Restaurant scene from Chapter II
Show ultimately has been fine, but man when they sorta leaned into the theory about the military looking for penny wise it took me out of the episode a bit
Had super low expectations but enjoying this so far, exterior vfx shots in episode 2 were truly horrendous though
