Saw an extended trailer for this movie before seeing Annabelle last night. So creepy. Cannot wait to see IT. Freaked me out when I was kid seeing the original. Never liked clowns after that.
Do you mean the preview before Annabelle we're all talking about or the trailer that came out a few weeks ago? Night Channels posted the preview a few posts back under the title 29 Neibolt Street
I haven't really been sold on the look of Pennywise in all of the footage and images so far - it's struck me as a little too on-the-nose 'scary looking' and honestly a little bit silly. That coupled with a few jump scares in the trailers had me worried a little bit. (Let's be real: jump scares are bullshit. They really are. It's what you do when you can't do anything else. Just have the scene be really quiet and then have the music and/or sound FX slam in suddenly. Weak.) This four minute scene they're playing in front of Annabelle has really assuaged a lot of my doubt. There's still a little jump scare which is honestly just kind of lame and unneeded - the situation itself is honestly so eerie and scary it's not needed - but that little hiccup aside, this was really scary and unsettling. I had never heard of this actor before but what he's doing in the scene is pretty f---ing terrifying and kinda brilliant. I love it. The dude looks like some kind of horrifying, unimaginable predator not of this world *trying* to act like what it thinks a clown/human acts like and struggling to suppress its predatory desire to tear this poor kid to shreds just for this little bit of time. Holy crap. Woof. They got my ticket for sure. The Tim Curry / Pennywise design from the miniseries was kinda silly too, especially if I imagine not having watched it first and being introduced to the design in a crappy publicity still. Not the ideal situation. I think an evil clown thing is a really hard idea to nail down without being silly in some respects and I'm not sure it can be done. I cannot even imagine having to put that outfit on and then trying to act scary in a scene you know millions of people all over the world might watch really soon and not ending up feeling and looking like a jackass. This guy shows some serious acting chops just in this quick scene.
The only one that's available now has horrible video quality. I'm hoping they'll just release an HD version of it after the weekend.
Yeah that's what I'm assuming. After the weekend, and Annabelle's numbers hit they'll just show to all.
I read how that actor can naturally cock one of his eyes in the other direction. it's pretty unsettling in this clip
Making plans to see this 9/9 with a group of horror fans. Really hoping to avoid obnoxious teen crowds.
Good luck indeed. I really want to see this opening night but there's no way I won't get a garbage crowd.
Youtube algorithms have apparently decided that this is the only ad I want to see before I watch a video.
The clip before Annabel is solid. The part where Pennywise and Georgie are both laughing and Pennywise just suddenly stops and stares at him for a beat is genuinely unsettling I wish Pennywise wasn't so visually creepy right off the bat, but it kind of works?
