All y'all with girlfriends who hate scary movies, and I'm living life being scared of everything with a girlfriend obsessed with the most terrifying, gruesome movies I can deal with jumpy, psychological thriller, or paranormal movies, but anything with extreme violence, blood, etc is just farrr too much for me. Insidious scared the shit out of me, when everyone else thought it was lame heh. I definitely plan on seeing IT, though, I think it'll be just the right amount of scary for me.
I honestly thought this movie was not "scary" at all. There are a few jump parts but the tense/thriller/ghost-like stuff that usually gives me some creeps at night when I fall asleep were hardly there. It's more of just a solid movie of the kids facing their fears and bullies. I think you should be fine!
Saw it today and agree that it wasn't really scary but I fucking loved it. Cast was amazing, really cool visuals and awesome vibe in general. Genuinely really funny too. Whoever said this movie was like The Goonies getting chased by an evil clown was spot-on, and I didn't know how badly I wanted a new movie like Goonies until now (love Stranger Things too). So happy I went and saw this, I was gonna skip it because I don't like horror movies for the most part but what I actually got was so much better
Saw it this afternoon - really enjoyed it. Had the same gripes about it that’s already been mentioned in here but overall a movie I’m really glad I saw in theaters
Saw it this afternoon and had a great time! The Losers were obviously all great and it really made me intrigued for a part 2. Even though I always liked the kid sections of the book better. My biggest complaint is that Georgie was too damn cute and innocent, and it made it hard to watch the scenes he was involved in
Saw this over the weekend, enjoyed it a lot, biggest complaint would be CGI in the Georgie scene at the start. And big question: All the victims are floating at the end, and they say 'hey look they're coming down' and then never return to that. Did they come down? Are they alive a all or completely catatonic and gone? Are they recovering their bodies or doing nothing? Why even show them coming down if they're going to drop it immediately?
i loved this. The vibe and the goonies/super 8 style of telling this story was awesome. Great timing on the release of this movie too "at the end of summer" to fit that vibe as well. Honestly, this has a chance of being my favorite of the year. Only gripe is that I feel like they should've had one or two scenes of the adults "not caring" or "not doing anything about it". They keep mentioning how no one's doing anything and/or how no one cares that there's a bully stabbing kids, but i would've liked to see a few scenes of this happening and a 'why'. Why are the parents acting like this? Why is the town ignoring this? I dont even really need an answer, just one or two more scenes of adults doing these actions.
The scene with balloon in the back of the car was pretty clear, but digging more into the evil of the town would have really helped
oh and i do agree with the criticsms that a more interesting director would have made this movie a whole lot better. While i still give it a 9/10, it 100% had the potential to be a 10/10, hands down #1 movie of the year, with a more creative director at the helm. Maybe too simple to suggest the It Follows guy (David Mitchell) edit; also, there was literally zero chance that anyone was going to be better at pennywise than Tim Curry, so no matter, i told myself that would not play a role in my review of this movie. You could have gotten the best actor, doing the best job possible, and it still would never hold up to Tim Curry. It's an impossible standard.
I'm such a coward that I skimmed through a shitty cam rip to know where all the scary parts are when I see it for real, and it honestly doesn't seem that scary at all. Like I'm a true baby who hates anything remotely scary and this seems tame. Which is a good thing for me! Seeing it officially tomorrow and I'm stoked.
Haha, I was reading this in class! So good. Though, I was hoping It would take on the form of their mom lol
Thought for sure they were gonna try and have it out next year, glad they're giving adequate time for this!
This is very cool: how they filmed the sewer scenes Footage showing how the sewer scenes were filmed in "It". • r/Moviesinthemaking
We can rejoice in the knowledge that this film has not only made more money than the latest Transformers film but has knocked it out of the worldwide top ten which means it is the first film in that trash series to not be in said top ten in its release year.
Wouldn't it have eventually been supplanted by something like The Last Jedi? That's cool though I guess
No doubt about that but I'm glad it was this that did it considering how much I liked it plus for it to be a low budget film over a behemoth like Star Wars makes it all the better.
Now the ninth highest grossing film of the year as it has overtaken both Transformers: The Last Knight and Logan this week, extremely impressive for a horror film. Quite frankly I expect this will overtake Spider-Man: Homecoming in terms of the US box office.
