My only complaint after 1 listen is the "life is too short to last long" line. Not really because I think it it a bad line, but more so because of where it hits in the song, with the music around it, makes it feel like the line is supposed to kind of pack a punch, and it just kind of falls flat to me. I do dig the song as a whole though.
I really like Neighborhoods... isn't it generally appreciated? I'm curious, I really don't know if it was well received by Blink fans...
It's great!!! Sounds so much better than Neighborhoods/Dogs Eating Dogs mixing wise. blink needs this glossy/polished production so much... If they released an album in 2002, I could imagine this track being on it. I just hope throwbacks aren't the norm on the new record. I still want blink to push themselves forward...
Neighborhoods certainly didn't suck. (And it certainly wasn't experimental at all, outside of one song.) It's not an amazing album and is clearly damaged by the obvious fact that none of it was recorded together. But it's solid. "After Midnight," "Heart's All Gone," "Wishing Well," "This is Home," "MH 4.18.2011" are all great songs.
Starting on KROQ in about 5-10 minutes. Mark and Travis (maybe Matt) will be there too. Will update with news that's posted here first, then either edit it in or make a new post on the website itself.
I need to go to sleep, its half past midnight in the UK and I have to be up in six hours for work but im soooo curious...
Dang the lyric video description says the album drops July 1st. A part of me was hoping we would get a Beyoncé style drop tomorrow/Friday.
i've been pretty against the whole Blink + Skiba thing since it was announced, but this song is great. the only thing that bugs me is the production... the drums and vocals have wayyyy too much reverb on them and it kinda bums the song out for me.
New blink album the same day I see Modest Mouse and Brand New? If I die that day, let it be known I died happy as shit.
Really enjoyed the song, Skiba really doesn't stand out on this track...hope he gets to shine on at least a few songs.
As someone who hasn't listened to Alkaline Trio before, I actually couldn't differentiate between Matt and Mark's voice the first time over and over and over. That being said, I really dig this song! It's gonna be a great summer!
I'm in the group of people who love the record. (The standard, not deluxe) because the chorus's are there, the lyrics aren't actually as cringeworthy as everyone says. The recording "production" if anything is a little thinner, but more lush in places. I think if that record was recorded like untitled or this record, people would hear the difference. It's tom heavy which is a bummer, but I think marks songs are really good
I'm not very familiar with Matt's voice; on my first listen it sounded like Mark was singing the whole time! I'll have to tune a closer ear
Don't think I've ever listened to an Alkaline Trio song before and I'm not much of a blink fan, but would it be weird if I said there were parts in the song where I couldn't really tell the difference between Mark's voice and Matt's voice?
