I know Love Vigilantes is a New Order cover but his version is just so good
One of my favorites that I never hear mentioned is "On Your Wings"
18 is totally reasonable
You've inspired me to make one of these. But I'll keep mine to CD length.
Yeah that's one I considered putting on there. The subtle instrumentation is incredible.
Also, "Free Until They Cut Me Down" just missed too
That's what I love about it, is sticatto guitar work
My Iron & Wine best of would include:
The Trapeze Swinger
Upward over the Mountain
Walking Far from Home
Godless Brother in Love
Naked As We Came
Love and Some Verses
Sodom, South Georgia
The Sea & the Rhythm
Pagan Angel and a Borrowed Car
Boy with a Coin
Flightless Bird, American Mouth
My Lady's House
16, Maybe Less
Pretty solid list.
Trying to sing and play Boy With A Coin at the same time is reaaaaaaaaal tough
new song is good
archive series vol. no. 4 is free to download today, acoustic versions of some Shepherd’s Dog songs.
my brother bought us tickets to see him while im visiting home, but im not very familiar. where should i start aside from shepherds dog?
Our Endless Numbered Days is typically considered the other classic in his catalog. I'd start there, but make a point to listen to "The Trapeze Swinger" too.
awesome, i love the shepherds dog ive just never diven into the rest of his shit. im super excited for the show too
I think you'd really appreciate Kiss Each Other Clean. It's the most he's ever extended his sound and its my favorite of his because of that. I'll always be a bit bummed that he didn't continue down that path.
Kiss Each Other Clean is my personal favorite.
Kiss Each Other Clean is hit or miss for me. Some really great stuff on there, though.
seriously listen to The Trapeze Swinger asap. it's one of the best songs ever written, no hyperbole.
"Fever Dream" and "The Trapeze Swinger" are probably both in my all-time top 25.
He's going on tour and is gonna play Our Endless Numbered Days with an orchestra.
edit: actually it's only 3 shows
just Incase anybody forgot, “The Trapeze Swinger” is the best song ever written
Interesting thread. My high school crush likes this group. Or said so on her facebook at one time. They seem like they’re on the soft rock side.
no one uses metaphor better than Sam Beam. just an amazing writer.
