Yeah this is essentially the end of that arc so it makes the most sense. Have the big climactic moment be either the end of the penultimate episode or the first half of the finale, then end the season by making it clear that it’s all actually far from over
Yeah but it's only gonna be one episode. Wouldn't be surprised if it was this season's "split episode" where half is Mark dealing with that and the other half shows Nolan/Allen doing whatever
First episode was great. Definitely handled the Mark and Eves dad dinner moment wayyy differently than in the comics. His attitude is like the opposite haha. Over all, I feel like things have a different feel from past seasons. It feels more serious in tone, the music and sound effect choices are top notch, voice acting feels improved, and I think the animation looks better and is more well-coordinated. Excited to see what else will change from the comics, and to see non comic book fans' reactions. It's actually crazy how much ground they covered in just one episode. Dinosaurus rules.
This snuck up on me! I think I might wait until the last season of The Boys is out and then knock out this, The Boys, and Fallout S2 all at the same time. Get like a month of prime and then cancel it.
Very funny how this show makes Eve's dad much more sympathetic than in the comics and yet he is still the fucking worst haha
I wouldn’t say more sympathetic, just better written. All the same stuff is there, just less in-your-face and one-dimensional
I forget: in the comics, did the alliance eventually succeed in capturing and using those dinosaur-like monsters that nearly killed Nolan and Allen? I could have sworn they did and used them against the Viltrumites, so I was surprised when they failed to capture any of them
Really love all the visual parallels in these episodes to show Mark starting to slip. Him skidding to a stop when Dinosaurus turned back into a human was basically the exact same shot as when Mark tried to talk Conquest down early in the their fight.
Havent started the new season yet but TIL that Omniman's suit in the comics is actually blue and red, not white and red like in the show.
It's an extremely pale blue, and sometimes white or light gray, depending on the lightning. TBH I've read the comics several times and I've never considered his costume blue lol. Thats fascinating to me that Ottley confirms it as such.
Yeah I watched the show before reading the comics and it didn't totally click to me that it was blue. The scenes that look blue just scan in my head as like "white under shadow" or whatever Though I always wonder why animators will make minor changes like that. The same thing just happened with the Steel Ball Run anime adaptation -- Johnny's outfit was clearly baby blue in the comics, but is now white in the anime
I liked everything about this episode more than how the comics were handled, from Nolan's return to Earth up until the end tbh. Poor Art and Debbie, dude. Sandra Oh deserves some sort of award from that performance. Do they do that for voice acting?
It’ll be interesting to see how much original material they add before the arc climax, given how much room there is to include stuff that doesn’t involve Mark/Oliver/Nolan
We gotta finally learn more about that time traveling entity I think that's vague enough to not need a spoiler tag
I havent watched this season but have seen the clip of Debbie/Nolan. Would be the best change if they never get back together in the show imo. It felt extremely unearned in the comic.
