Bizarre that an Amazon product is having issues with an Amazon show haha. Well, I wish you luck that it magically fixes itself some time soon
Mark’s hyper concern about never condoning killing under any circumstances really falls flat in a world full of genocidal supervillains who are constantly trying to murder people. Like if the (s3ep4 spoiler) mentally ill future Immortal is saying “put me out of my misery or I’ll just continue killing/oppressing people” then idk man just get it over with lol
As an objective 3rd party, I agree with you. However, Mark's position makes sense to me. He's not only still traumatized after accidentally killing Angstrom, he also feels he has the power to solve these problems without killing, which is true like 95% of the time. Stuff like this episode and his Viltrumite encounters force him to actually find that line He does need to start sparring with some Robot drones or something to get experience fighting "normal" things, though, cause at a certain point it's less "holding back" and more "doing nothing" (like in the premiere against the National Treasure hunters)
Middle of the road ep this week for me. Loved the stuff with Paul trying to escape prison, the changes they made with Machine Head coming back, Rae/Rex scene, and the Mark/Eve team up. Thought Mr. Liu's dragon form looked very goofy here vs how he looks in the comics though. Wish they maintained more of the Shenron influence to his design. They kinda got there in that last scene but not in the prison fight.
I really don't expect much more from Nolan and Allen until next season. Might get a small update next episode, but 7 and 8 should be pretty packed even before trying to fit that in
Yeah probably like 1 or 2 more teases on what they're up to with major focus on the big threat Mark will have to deal with on Earth in the last 2 eps. Assuming we end things around issue #60, teasing what comes in #61-#65 for season 4, which is a wild time if you didnt read the comics. Big Spoiler: At this point I feel like theres no way they can manage to do Powerplex, Invincible War, AND Conquest in just 3 episodes and I really dont want them to rush anything. I imagine Conquest will need 2 episodes at the very least, not to mention the devastation and aftermath of that fight but that would also be a very good spot in the story to end a season of this show.
Not a huge fan of him, he just felt like a really dumb "villain of the week", but what he ends up doing is very tragic for sure.
I actually think he's pretty important for Mark's arc. Powerplex is the physical representation of his guilt over Chicago. Fighting him is what forces him to fully accept that it wasn't his fault and move on from it
I feel like all of that is very doable in 3 episodes. Powerplex really doesn't take up that much time (I expect that to be completely covered by this upcoming episode), and part of what makes Invincible War work so well (at least IMO) is how quick it was. They were able to accomplish untold destruction in what felt like the blink of an eye. It all happening in one issue and barely getting to touch on any one fight before having to jump to the next one conveyed that really well, and I hope they translate that into the show. And I don't see why Conquest needs to be 2 episodes. Honestly, structuring episode 7 like they did the previous finales where the first half is the actual Invincible War and the second half being clean-up leaving episode 8 to basically be all Conquest is my ideal scenario. I'd expect the season to end with Mark telling Oliver he was right and that he won't hesitate to kill anyone who threatens his family again
So Powerplex's wife is played by Kate Mara in this ep but they definitely made the character looks exactly like Krysten Ritter for the Breaking Bad connection w/ Aaron Paul
I loved when they flashed the invincible title card for a split second like 5-6 times during Powerplex's rant haha
Really strong episode. The decision to have Scott's sister/niece be the two people Mark tried to save in Chicago is something I thought they might do, and I'm really glad they did. Adds another layer of tragedy that Mark specifically tried to save the two people Powerplex is convinced he killed
Don't get me wrong, this was one of the best episodes of the series and I loved it, but I kind of wish they didn't rush through it so fast
