Finished this tonight and it 100% lived up to the hype. This show was amazing; beautiful animation, really gripping story, great acting and cast and awesome brutal action. Know nothing about the comics so I'm really excited to see where this goes now
Really liked this. Wasn't really feeling it but, much like anyone, hit the last 10 minutes of episode 1 and was sucked right in.
Seconded, @Henry Great first season. Did a good job streamlining the first...13 or so issues of the series. Interested to see how they address some of the more clunky / tasteless storytelling beats of the series (if it gets that far), but so far, a great opening season... ...even if there are some sequences where they really cheapened out on the animation so they could throw all the money at other sequences like the goddamn subway train sequence
I'm not really a superhero/comic guy, but I love animation and have been hearing a lot about this show. Guess I should give it a shot.
Great season and great show. Also an insanely stacked cast. They got some big names for even one line roles. Does Zachary Quinto also voice Robot when he gets his human body? The voice sounded like Aaron Paul when he voices Todd on Bojack lol.
I started reading the comics and its great. I think I'm almost at like issues 20, hard to keep track since its the compendium. Very excited to see where they go with the show and how they approach some of the comic characters that we haven't seen on screen yet. Definitely worth checking them out if you can get your hands on them. The story is approached in a slightly different way and I really appreciate they didn't just adapt it word for word, scene for scene, especially since there are some things they kept out for good reason since they didn't age well at all. I think the way they approached it in the show works better for that format too.
Yeah I read through the whole series after watching this first season and I’ll be interested to see how they adapt it
I'm through like 2/3 of the compendiums and it reaaaaally gets crazy. Interesting that they've barely scratched the surface in season 1 of the show. I'm curious how far into the story they'll get in S2 and how they'll change the sequencing of events.
Great episode and glad it focused on Atom Eve. She's one of the best characters in the whole comic series tbh. The fighting animation improved upon a ton compared to season 1, jsut feels a lot smoother. Also loved how creative they were with Eve's use of her powers especially in the final battle. I'd love to get more of these one off's between seasons if they can manage. There's a ton of great characters they could flesh out more with an hour episode like this.
