Inventing Anna (Netflix) TV Show

the podcast was great but this trailer seems like the show has potential for being all time bad

 

Anyone watch this? IMDB reviews are panning this big time.

 

really wanted to give this a chance for Garner but after 3 episodes i just didnt find the subject manner all that engaging. This felt like it had more potential as a movie than a series...

it also could've benefitted from not looking like every single netflix show ever! in terms of style, the way its shot, written, etc. Netflix clearly has a formula and the B-level has becoming a running gag in my household at this point. Garner will bounce back because she's awesome but this isn't for me.

The very first review I found actually makes a great point. Why so much focus on the journalist? This Delvey person is the one with the story worth watching. Oh netlfix.

truly insane. the voice actor from the podcast somehow did a better job

and julia is usually very good

 

I watched the entire limited series. The accent was terrible. Was it suppose to be Russian? German?

 

she’s half of each and posed as a german heiress

 

Supposedly that's what she sounds like?

 

Why did they go with this show format for this material?

I guess because it's Shondaland but I came in expecting something way less on the nose and a lot more cynical, with focus on Delvey as an anti-hero of sorts, not on the journalist

 

How bout y’all panning the accent work look up what accent she’s supposed to be doing first lol

 

it’s a bad accent even if you know what one she’s doing and have heard the actual person speak lol

 

Its also a boring show

This show features the most dog shit writing ever and shame on the creators for turning this woman into someone to symphatize with

 

there has always been a weird sympathizing angle with this story where people viewed her as a robin hood type character, but yeah, it’s handled like absolute dogshit here

 

A couple episodes in, I thought it was ok.

 

Obviously very late to this, but just finished the show. the Anna-sympathizing was weird and I think the ending was sloppy/left a lot of loose ends but I thoroughly enjoyed the show as a whole. Imperfect but entertaining. Ironically, I know somebody who looks and sounds just like Anna and coincidentally saw her today.
