Watched this over holiday break and honestly kinda loved it. I went in expecting the worst in series and something awful, but had a blast start to finish. Was it perfect? Nope. But a great adventure with cool new characters. Would rate this as tied with Temple at 3rd, but it might honestly just edge it out. Need to rewatch the series again.

FINALLY got through all the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles episodes; some pretty wild stuff, but some pretty boring parts as well, mainly the episodes where he's not fighting or on a mission. I think like 6 episodes were set during WW1. Only a single episode had something "fantasy/supernatural" related, being his French intelligence trip to Romania, to infiltrate Vlad's castle in Transylvania. Basically some big energy orb appears in the room they're in and flies through the castle. They chase after it, and one dude in Indy's group gets ahead of them and gets fried by the energy orb. Beyond that, every other episode was grounded in reality. Once Indy returns home from the war the series kind of peters out (while studying archeology in Chicago Indy gets SUPER into jazz and meets Louis Armstrong). This effort took about a month to get through, but it's been cool to learn all the lore behind his character

  3. I remember being really disappointed as a kid when I found out that show existed but River Phoenix wasn’t playing young Indy like in Last Crusade. I’ve still never watched any of it.

The scene in Utah in Last Crusade takes place roughly 3 years before before they first show the teenage Indy in the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles

I watched a couple episodes, including the jazz one, during summer vacation and thought it was cool but no way I could commit to watching all of them. Mystery of the Blues is worth it though, it's just charming, Ford is in it and Jeffrey Wright is awesome too.

I watched the series a ton actually back in the day. Had the VHS of them. Ended up getting the DVD's and watching them off and on.

Treasure of the Peacock's Eye is excellent.

The past few months Lucasfilm's youtube channel released a huge dump of half hour history documentaries they produced in 2007 for the DVD release of Young Indiana Jones. There are almost 75 of them. They're actually really good and up there in quality with a lot of the better historytube stuff out there. Smart move.

I’ve seen The Last Crusade more than any other film in my life - it was the very definition of an adventure film for me

  17. Eh, he is a blowhard but I agree with him in this instance. Not a bad film, but definitely less exciting than the first two.

Harrison Ford popping up and saying "Yes sir" after Sean Connery breaks the vase over his head and says "Junior?!?" is one of the funniest gags of all time

It has something for literally everyone. Multiple phrases from this movie occupy our house’s internal vernacular.

    “No ticket.”
    “You call this archeology?”
“Well, I’m here. What do you want to talk about?”
    “It’s only a snake.”
“He got lost in his own museum / with any luck, he’s got the grail already.”
