He said in the RS interview he got his deviated septum fixed, so maybe he’s just relishing in being able to sing out of both nostrils.
Yeah idk if I dig this new version. The outro is cool, but I feel like it kind of ruins the vibe of the song. I don’t think the more explosive outro fits what’s really a more mellow track. I’m also kind of with everyone on Brandon’s vocals, but is that really a fair criticism? I mean, your voice is gonna sound different at 48 than it did at 25
bro im loaded up for may! i have so many shows in MAY, none this summer yet hahaha i literally tweeted this last night!!
The song is pretty neat imo. Will it ever replace the original? Of course not. But it’s cool to hear their take on it all these years later
incubushq.com sold out of the vinyl, both the orange variant and the traditional black thesoundofvinyl sold out of the transluscent blue variant really happy for the band, hopefully they can get some more vinyl pressed!
No, I don’t think it’s a fair criticism. I actually can’t believe the man can still sing these songs as well as he does at his age. He has my respect - it’s clear he has taken good care of his health over the years and in turn, his voice.
New version of “Circles” is out. I dig the raw production, but the vocals just aren’t doing it for me.
I really love how these new recordings aren't just straight copies of the original arrangements. Breathes new life into the songs. Making me really pumped for the show this summer!
This honestly just sounds like a really good quality live version or something. I dig the liberties taken. No issues here, sounds great
Wasnt really too interested in this as the original is perfect to me. Gave it a listen this morning and I wil say that they certainly didnt ruin this. These new versions are similiar enough, but just sound more mature and even live at times. Good work, but not sure how often I will revisit it compared to the original. Wouldnt drop $40 on a vinyl copy.
This is as strange as I expected, though not necessarily in a bad way. It doesn't really feel like it has a reason to exist? Like, it's not a big enough departure to feel decidedly different/necessary, but it's also different enough to not qualify as a straight re-record for like, say, owning masters purposes like Taylor Swift. It just sort of exists somewhere in between which is...fine? It's perfectly listenable/enjoyable and I'm cool with them doing whatever they want to do, I suppose.
I don’t like this at all. Imagine being like “Hey Tom, let’s re-record Enema with your new shittier voice.” This is what this album is for me.
fuuuck, Brandon does NOT sound good . I'm only on the first track but he is singing SO staccato and ennunciated, it's not smooth in any way at all, really forced feeling. Plus no much more nasal than before, it really feels like some random dude is singing their songs. BUT the extended intro musically is really cool, so I can see the benefits musically.... I'll probably suffer through this, but it's not a great start hah
One full listen through - I think the more mellow tracks suit the band better, which makes sense because their music in general has been mostly that way the last ~18 years. "Just A Phase", "Aqueous Transmission", "Are You In?" All sound great to me.
Brandon’s voice is cooked on Nice to Know You, but the rest sounds pretty good. Sucks that it’s the first track and what everyone is going to get a first impression of this album from.
